For sure. And i wouldn't be as upset as i am with the elephant if it were instead a sumatran tiger or asiatic lion, but still the correct choice there was a bird not a clone. Is an ASIA pack and yet not a single pheasant in it, or crane... or even a duck. But oh well, i guess we have to live with Frontier's ornitophobia and just don't expect any bird and be happy that we even get one when we do, like a very rare ocurrance.

I honestly just gave up hoping for cool birds, its why i started just commissioning mods of the species i want instead of hoping that one turns up once in a blue moon, because frontier an me seem to have pretty different ideas on what should be added to the game
I would have picked Arabian leopard over the lion or tiger just to have a big cat adapted to desert biome, but I agree birds were sorely missing from this pack. Pheasants, ducks or cranes would have been cool, but I would also have liked a pelican.
Yeah pelican was a perfect but missed opportunity for Asia. This pack with a pelican instead of a elephant would be very close to perfection.

Not particularly passionate i must say. I mean id for sure take any of them over the elephant, but my main gripe with the roster would still hold true: the lack of bird

Important to note that the elephant is very clearly a clone, and switching it for a pheasant would take a significant amount more dev work, which is unrealistic (although not unreasonable) to expect given DLC in the past. Personally, Asiatic Lion would have been a far superior choice for a clone slot, particularly given the existing Lion's outdated graphics. Other clones I would have liked would be a Civet, a Warty Pig, any number of monkeys.
The biggest disappointment for me is that they didn't add a deep diving animation for the Elephants when adding the Bornean. Such a missed opportunity to "justify" its addition by improving the animations for it and the other 2 Elephants.

How different is a pheasant rig wise from a peafowl and chicken?
Well the feather arragement might need some extra work, specially the mating animations, but the foundation is there. Same for ducks and pelicans with the swan.

I think the ones you mentioned (gaur, banteng, anoa, yak) are all pretty cool looking and unique "cows" compared to the others we have so i would welcome them for sure, but they are not as necessary for me as a pheasant for Asia.

Im kinda of biased toward gaur, as it's one of my most wanted ungulates, but i woudn't mind getting a duck in it place.
Perhaps this is me being a buzzkill, but I think it's also worth saying that the DLC isn't gonna change no matter how much we try to mentally block a certain big, grey, wasted slot. I get that the collective disappointment most of us are feeling has gotta manifest somehow. However, if we all dwell on it ad infinitum, it's just gonna leave a sour taste in our mouths and taint further discussion... I would have preferred just about anything to the elephant, but I've made my peace with it and moved on at this point, and if you guys value your sanity, I'd recommend doing the same.
If insanity is doing the same actions hoping for a different outcome we all lost our sanity eons ago.
There are discussions on how the base game could or should have been different or better, theoretical discussions on how you’d do every DLC differently and so on. I think it’s just a natural part of conversation on here and is inevitable, certainly no one is losing their minds over it.
