COMPLETED CG Join Aisling Duval's Call To Arms (Combat)

wait, what? I depledged from SpaceCostner yesterday... I didn't know there were any penalties... what have I got myself into?
The "penalty" is that you lose all your rank benefits and have to start over at rank 0 if you re-pledge.

Nothing particularly serious, but enough that you probably wouldn't want to switch every time there's a new Powerplay-themed CG either.

Oh, ok I was starting to think that I was going to be hunted down by Wings of Costner Spec Ops...
I only signed up for him because of a CG a few weeks ago, but realised he's a bit of a pompous with zero redeeming qualities other than his chiselled jawline and kind eyes, so defected.

I think the idea is the ship is where the power struggle is happening, but it's not what it's happening to, if you see what I mean. Nobody on any side is attacking the ship, so it doesn't really care what's going on. It just ignores everyone.

And yeah, it could trivially solo every ship in the AO. If you wanted to take that thing, you'd have to bring a cap ship of your own.
But the system is absolutely a lost cause because LYR / Costner groupies can just fly to the ship to restock without leaving the instance.. then come back to continue their progress. It takes two or three restocks to "Win the Battle" and earn points for your power.

But the moment a Aisling supporter jumps to a ship to refuel, the whole instance resets and no wins are accrued.. the two systems are 100% guaranteed to fall unless enough players see their instances through to final Victory without restocking or relying on synths to restock.

The CZs are too tedious to play with lasers alone and even fuel slugs for weapons will drain you before the CZ ends without 256T of fuel in your tanks.
So you have to synth everything or jump out and restart from scratch.

I thought they could rearm at the megaships as well ? Also they have other places in the system to fight.

How can Aisling supporters rearm at the megaships? They constantly refuse docking and they belong to LYR/Costner.

Even the closest Fleet Carrier is 3Mms away. so you have to jump which means you have to reset the CZ and can't claim the win. These CZs feel about 3~4 times longer than i remember. They take between 1 and 2 hours to win if spec ops arrive and start destroying Aisling's ships.

If an attacker docks back at their megaship, the instance still continues and they can just return to the battle fully repaired and armed... two or three reams is enough to win the CZ in Solo play.

Power CZs unlike their BGS equivalent don't have a victory bonus - but do give fairly substantial control points from each kill - so there's no loss (other than potentially very minor efficiency issues) from leaving whenever you run out of ammunition.
Wow. Interesting. Where was this explained? If it's true it's good news... Both of those systems are toast... already down 100k control points...

Same place that it's explained that BGS CZs do have a significant completion bonus - players figuring it out after trying them and chatting about it.

The way it interacts with the Powerplay scoring means that anyone on the Archer or LYR sides (except Duval pledges who got lost) contributes to the Undermining score, but only Duval pledges on the Duval side contribute to the Reinforcement score.

Given all that it's actually surprisingly close - although there are other factors which mean that in terms of control points some of the undermining players will be getting fewer control points per kill than the defenders.

Just repeat requesting landing, megaship will kick out NPC ship from landing pad. After then you can land.

I'm pledged to AD and have been docking at Obsidian Directive without issue. I don't want to deal with the hassle of rearming so I have been relying entirely on four large Beam Lasers on my Python MK2. With engineering the hulls are still a little tanky but I'm racking up kills just fine, and completing the CZs in 45 minutes if it's going well and an hour and a half it it's not. I feel you if that feels like too much of a slog but I'm also at nearly 20M contributions and will probably be able to stay in the top 25% with maybe some minimal topping up before the event wraps up.

If the instance is going well as soon as you lock beams on an enemy ship you can see like half a dozen other AD ships doing the same--the kills come very quickly when the wind is on your side.

If y'all really want to talk about stations not letting you dock then let me regale you with my fury every time there's a wanted NPC Asp sitting in my parking spot at Robigo Mines while I have a cabin full of crybaby tourists mad that I didn't stop at McDonalds and I haven't brought any guns to tell them how I feel about it. 😂

Wow. Learning a lot on here. Thanks people... I tried docking twice but I guess it was just an NPC since I was playing in Solo.
So what I've gathered on this thread so far is:
  • Anyone can dock at the LYR's megaship Obsidian...
  • Winning the battle itself has no direct impact on the CG or control points other than obviously the ships killed.
  • Only players pledged to Star Smurf will get reinforcement points
  • Anyone fighting against her will add to the undermining score against the system.

Which actually makes this an awesome CG, not "the WORST CG". It has some additional tactical depth to it, rather than just being a mindless combat grind.
Totally disagree. I was playing for 2-3 hours making sure to not hit the mega ship and still got deleted 3 times for shooting while taking high G turns and suddenly the ship appeared behind my target. Long range weapons, so hit counted , boom dead...
Also NPCs are programmed to try to lure you into hitting the ship, a clear TRAP from FDEV side. They lose shields and run to the mega ship to hide for 20-30 seconds to get shields back up and then fight you again.. And again the same when they lose shields... This is so frustrating and time consuming....

This CG has really made me even more confused as to why people like pvp.

It's just so boring. We fly in circles around each other for 15 minutes. One of us dies. He comes back out, it starts over again. What's the point? I win, I lose, it doesn't matter.

it's not even really fun. Like, at least CQC is FUN. It's quick, fast-tempo, rewards precision skill. Standard PVP is just an endless slog.

I'm LYR mainly for the exploration, exobiology and outfitting perks. Having pretty much all ship modules at 15% off on the Stronghold carriers is just nice.
I’m LYR for the Pack Hounds - which I’ve now bought a bunch of but not sure where (if anywhere) to go to continue the slog!
