DLC21 Speculation

Yeah for the Odd ones pack i would go hard on oceania and SA and do the following roster:

1. South american coati
2. Patagonian mara
3. Brown pelican (pelicans are weird man)
4. Short beaked echidna
5. Goodfellow's tree kangaroo (could be swapped for any other weird looking oceanian animal like numbat or greater bilby)
6. Secretary bird (i prefer it over the shoebill and they do look quite unusual as well)
7. Gerenuk
8. Ex: naked mole rat (i like that idea)
When you think about, many of the top wanted species are unique looking and unusual species. We have all of the more standard type species though I know if we get more packs we'll still get more standard type species in.

Yeah that's why i picked those (they are also my most wanted species though). TBH i would do a 12 species pack out of this concept, it would really cover a lot of my most wanted animals and you could include much more in this like musk ox, a bunch of primates (aye-aye, spider monkey, golden snub nosed monkey, red shanked douc, some tamarins), stuff like the aardwolf, walrus or elephant or hooded seals, even some ducks like the muscovy, kind eider or the mandarin duck, other birds like the roseatte spoonbill, bald ibis or marabou / jabiru stork, etc. So much potential lol

To be honest I think an unusual species pack could work very well as a museum themed pack. I feel like the balance of animals that are more rare in captivity would go very well with universally applicable pieces. I’m still upset after years we really don’t have many pieces good for education. A “realistic habitat” is more than a realistic backstage area and whatever is behind the fence, in many zoos they have signs, statues, skeletons, and many other items to flesh out the habitats more. Especially the parts of the habitats that guests are supposed to walk around in.

Last pack was 71 days after the previous.
I guess we can't exept the same for the next one.
Last few packs were approximatelly 170 days between each other.
The ones around year 2024.

Most likely we will know better after Frontier Unlocked 30th.

Otherwise I was just playing with calculations and if next pack would be those 70 days after the last one it would make beginning of September.
170 days would make first quarter of December.

We were used to get 4 packs per year until last year (2024) where we got only two with ending-like felt Zookeepers pack name.
We don't know what will be the strategy for this year. 2 packs? 3packs? 4?
We started pretty fast this year for 2 and 3, didn't we?

If they want to keep 4 DLCs per year, August/September and November/December each would be only option right now.

Just some thoughts :) open for discussion.

odd ones animal pack
1. gerenuk
2. secretary bird
3. marine iguana
4. coconut crab
5. Chinese giant salamander
6. eastern long beaked echidna
7. kori bustard

8. ringed caecilian

Oddities pack for me then:
Coatimundi species
African Civet
Shoebill
Rock Hyrax
Sulawesi Bear Cuscus
Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
Echidna

Thought about the Brazilian Porcupine, Mara or Viscacha, Secretary Bird or Tamarin but I don't know if they're odd enough.

Curiously, we don't have announcement about the next Frontier Unlocked, so maybe they'll release some info in August

Frontier unlocked is July 30th. If they say nothing about Planet Zoo beyond reminding about the Americas/Asia console bundle, then it's pretty much for sure that new content for PZ is done (beyond maybe an anniversary animal but even that's not for sure).

Some potential foreboding, they announced the unlocked on several of their games social channels, but Planet Zoo wasn't one of them. Not a good sign but it could have also just been an oversight.

I know we're trying to guess when there is a severe lack of information to go off, but I think given the anniversary date is approaching fairly soon, it seems reasonable to say that they'll want to have one more DLC to release alongside the anniversary animal. Of course, there is no guarantee that there even will be an anniversary animal, but it would be a good way to wrap up the game.

While I'm speculating, the appropriate DLC ideas seem to be either a) a non-themed pack that just includes as many popular animals as it can or b) a Continents pack. I've already shared my ideal Continents pack a while back, so here's the other option that I'd like:

Celebration Pack
1. Gelada
2. Patagonian Mara
3. Muskox
4. Roseate Spoonbill
5. Mantled Guereza
6. Asiatic Lion
7. Golden Lion Tamarin

Anniversary Animal:
South American Coati

Nice idea. Gonna note the Coati is also a unique looking species and two pinnipeds is not really that necessary.
I was looking at the Meta Wishlist & the animals at the near top of it. I get the Coati looks unique, I just hadn't thought it looked unique.
Plus, I feel Southern Elephant Seal is necessary, reason being its the largest pinniped.

I have seen this argument come up before regarding various animals. Recently with the gaur for example: "biggest bovine, ofcourse it should be in game! "
But, atleast i feel, its only brought up when they already want that animal anyways.
Because never in my life have i heard anyone say the giant african forest hog should be in game because its the biggest wild pig

Yeah its only ever relevant when the animal itself offers something more than just being the biggest as supporting evidence.
The thing with the southern elephant seal it has something much more important than being the biggest its one of the few zoo relevant mainland Antarctica animals.

I’ll try to join the discord, but I prefer the forums. I like how “official” the forum is, all the information ever posted is on here and accessible if you know where to find it.

Like my Education In Zoos and Museums thread is full of pictures I took over the years, and if I post them in discord it will make it harder for people to access them. That’s the whole point of the thread! It’s an available resource for everyone I have built over the years.

Also I 100% agree, discord doesn’t feel official.
