Did you click the "Clean Install" option? In place upgrades are normally ok, but ED is a bit finicky, so do the clean install where it removes all the old drivers then installs the new one.Haven't been having any stability problems with ED for months.
Installed the latest driver for my RTX 3080ti (ver 580.88) earlier this evening and now I can't get ED to keep running for more than about 30 seconds without a CTD.
Coincidence?

This."Clean Install" doesn't remove old drivers it only clears any settings you set in the Nvidia Control Panel.
If you want to completely remove old drivers, you will need to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).
Here is a howto guide.

Try clean installing the drivers (in safe mode using DDU).Haven't been having any stability problems with ED for months.

The stupid APP again! You probably installed the Nvidia App. Never install the App. Uninstall that steaming pile of garbage and your troubles will go away. Custom install and only check Driver, Audio and PhysX. I always forget to tell them about the stupid App. <facepalm>That was a bit... odd.
After installing the new gfx driver ED looked normal but, as I said, the game was totally unstable.
I was looking at the NVidia Control Panel, to see if there was an easy way to roll back the driver, and the "Graphics" tab offers recommended settings for a bunch of games and the settings for ED were all very low quality.
Didn't adjust anything but, upon starting ED last night, it started in a window and the gfx settings were all very low quality - as per the settings in the NVidia Control Panel.
Put all ED's settings back to how I wanted them and played the game for several hours with no problems.
Quit out of the game and, out of curiosity, I checked the NVidia Control Panel again and now the recommended settings for ED are back to being what they should be.
I'm guessing the instability was because the low-quality NVidia settings were attempting to inflict themselves on ED but ED wasn't allowing it.
Once ED started up using the NVidia settings, and then I changed them back again, I guess everything synch'ed back up again.![]()
This is correct. Never use the app, it causes issues, interferes with settings and can even cause your household to become enveloped in swearing sounds. The stupid APP again! 566.36 it is Mate. Good show. It's what I'm running. 566.36 was the last version before the garbage 50xx card support was added. This is correct. Never use the app, it causes issues, interferes with settings and can even cause your household to become enveloped in swearing sounds.
I'm still running the driver from the before times. 566.36 or something. The last stable driver for the 3080.
