gamma 1.01 broke DK2 support

Covered over the oculus rifts motion camera and colours faded but the lighting levelled off slightly.

Wondering if some form of other device implementation (head tracker) has caused the rifts drivers to play up??

This is how i think it works:

Directional lights do not have a specific emmiter, they just come from a certain direction. These lights can be rendered exactly the same in both eyes since the lights reflection from objects would be percieved identically by both eyes.
Point lights have an emitter in 3D space and since the light comes from a specific location and the light bounces slightly differently into each eye, requiring seperate rendering for each eye. Something turned off the stereoscopic rendering for point lights.

oooh ok so i assume there is a text line somewhere in a config that just needs to re eneable stereoscopic ?

Edit: i cant find anything under docs within folder regarding the oculus

Dont know, but from what i have seen in game the point lights arent working for stereo.

The sun lights up the ship for both eyes but not point lights in the cockpit. In stations a lot of the lighting is point lighting. I assume ambient lighting works for both eyes in stations.

EDIT: I assume it is not as simple as a line in the config files. I would probably be something in the engine, some define somewhere. My guess is they were optimizing something to do with graphics and didn't test the oculus before releasing the update.

well tweaked the hell out of my nvidia drivers and now have most settings on high and good frame rates,

Still have the shadow issue, one thing did happen tho i had to dump my heat pod and when systems shut down to reboot on ship both eyes were correct. i assume it was because all ambient lighting was stopped to give sense of cold and floating dead space.
 
DK2 - Also not working

Wow glad to see that it wasn't just me that thought they broke their DK2... Tried 3 other apps/games and they are all working perfectly.

The DK2 got delivered yesterday and played most of the night in elite dangerous, it was working perfect, loved it!! Today I log in and the patch gamma 1.01 loaded =( now my right eye has a darker version of the picture. Initial loading of game and initial menu system works fine, but as it loads into the actual game the right eye cuts in and out, when loaded I also have no lighting in right eye, all messed up, unplayable with DK2 till fixed.. I've tried to change so many settings to get this working....

Waiting for fix/patch.... hmm maybe time to catch up on the day to day.. but hope this is fixed soon... "insert popcorn icon here" :cool:

Yeah the devs are normally pretty awesome about fixing these kind of bugs, i expect a fix in a day or so. Some of the best devs I have seen when it comes to updates
 
Holy crap, it's still not fixed?? I Played 1440p on the monitor. So lame! It did run smooth as butter though. OMG if I could play the rift with the same frame rate, It would be amazing. A year from now, whatever card we can get will probably do it. Also SLI seems like it should be perfect for running one card for each eye.

Fix it guys! i'M DRYING UP HERE!
 
Same issue here. I'm tempted to open up the box to a new monitor I just got today, but I am resisting the temptation. My Obutto r3volution should be arriving late this week or early next week \o/
 
I tried to play on the monitor, I really did, but once you've rifted, there is no going back :(

Please fix Oculus support.

I find myself looking up at the ceiling, trying to line up for a docking approach. All I see is that it's time to paint the ceiling.

i bought this game and the oculus rift together for each other, they are the gateway to the future of gaming. This game and the rift are made for each other! thank you DEVS for all your hard work and dedication to this new FRONTIER ;) we know there will be bumps and curves on this new path.
