gamma 1.01 broke DK2 support

I know right? Tried it for about 5 min then turned it off.

Damn, hoped they would have hot fixed this by now :( I feel your pain guy's, here's what happened to me.. Saw that 1.01 was going to release, put it on download and said to my girl 'I've got a lot of important 'testing' to do on the computer all night, won't be coming to bed' ;) So I cooked a nice meal for her, put on Moulan Rouge.. YES MOULAN FRIKIN ROUGE!! Sat there suffering , as soon as it ended I come back to find ED is unplayable lol

Please fix before tonight as I have someone flying in from Ireland specifically to demo the Rift and ED ( ok and beers too :D ). Would be a real shame not to show off this game.

I'm seeing increased framerates in station which is a great sign.

I'm afraid the increase in framerate is merely due to the fact that the GPU has to render fewer light sources due to the bug. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Anyway - same issue - complete show stopper for me and couldn't go back to triplehead + trackir even if I was payed to play.

Oh well - time for some Crusader Kings 2 then...

Unlikely, ED uses deferred renderer, in which case the number of light sources are not a factor.

Incorrect. While rendering lights is cheaper than in forward rendering, the rendering cost is about linearly dependent on the area illuminated by each light. Unless they cast shadows, then they will often require a separate pass. Of course, I do not know how FDs engine works, but based on how other engines deal with deferred rendering this should be correct.
 
+1 same issue in the right eye.

I started with the DK2 during beta 3.9, and while loading (after Start -> Open Game), when the wire frame model is loaded, the right eye was messed up too - it wouldn't render the right eye until 2-3 seconds before the game finished loading. It was a headache, but didn't affect gameplay. This new one does.

Without the DK2, going to have to rethink the control schema so I can see everything I need to see in the cockpit.
 
Im very sorry that its my fault this happend. :< You see murphys law is my religion and I have planned to demo elite in oculus rift for some friends in two days from now so ofc its my bad luck that causes this, I really really hope its fixed before then...

I do believe its very bad for FD tho if they haven't fixed Oculus Rift support in Elite by Thursday because I'm hardly the only one who will be demoing Elite in Oculus at worlds largest computer festival/LAN-party Dreamhack Winter on Thursday-Sunday.

Most likely there will be many official try out oculus rift stations there as well. I really hope you will be able to demo the latest prototype there so I can see how much better the screen has become.

I am suffering from this same issue on the DK2. I'm not sure if it's already been noted, but the "spinning ship" loading screen, at first, only appears for me on the left eye, and there is no display to the right eye. This could be related?

It's not game-breaking, as it's possible to play, but it's highly annoying, and, as other posters have mentioned, initially I thought I was going blind in one eye or something.

What strikes me as odd is that Gamma 1.00 was so completely bug-free for me, and Gamma 1.01 has caused a huge amount of issues, despite being a "minor" update.
 
it would be nice if one of the Devs could at acknowledge the issue and let us know they are working on it.. I am sure they know a bout it by now! :)
