I love this game and I'm not disappointed

Although I agree with parts of the OP comments, this day and age is full of companies wanting money for things they aren't actually going to do, so that doesn't mean he 'gets it'.

It means theres a part of the problem he doesn't get.

Imagine if you are asked to do something by your employer, they say, if I hire you, will you get able to get X done by this time? You say sure, and you don't do it. Do you think they're happy with you and just tell you 'I understand it's an investment and that this work will evolve and eventually develop into what I want.'

No, not often. It comes more of on the lines of, "Okay, you screwed up, maybe I won't fire you yet and give you a chance but you have to explain to me why it wasn't done, and what you're doing about it."
If you don't communicate with your boss at that point, you get fired. They may like you, enjoy your company, think you're a 'great guy or gal' and have the potential for a bright future, but these underlying issues need to be resolved.

This is a multi-directional scenario.

Personally I enjoy the game, I think it's great and I think it may have a bright future, but these underlying issues still need to be resolved.

Spare me the analogies, friend. Both the op knew what he wanted and expected, and I too. We were both in agreement, and it's only you who didn't.

Not quite.
Blah Blah Blah.. a wipe in December, what about my head start ?

You get a head start with the eagle, cobra mkIII or other goodies, and things such as experience and what to expect.

Shok.

Your statement of 'He gets it' implies that other people do not. Slight insults similar to what I said about backhanded comments aren't clever.
It's okay if you have what you want and you feel the same as he does, but the way you worded it, even if unintentional is that anyone who doesn't feel the way he does doesn't "get" the game.

If you want to be spared analogies, and this was intentional, spare me your not so clever slights at the expense of either people. Just because you think you're being clever doesn't mean people will not realize you've slighted them nor be under the illusion that they cannot respond to them.

I understand that it will continue to grow, expand and flourish as new content and features are added after the initial release.

I accept that bugs will be fixed and gameplay adjusted over the coming months.

I expect there to be times when servers crash under load , bugs or just bad luck.

I do not have an overblown sense of entitlement to any particular feature.

After many months I still find myself sitting back and saying to myself "This Rocks"!

Getting your money's worth is not overblown entitlement. I'm glad you're satisfied with the current state of the game and recent events. Some of us however are not and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Ill conceived praise, especially when backed by snarky comments about those not so forthcoming with it, is likely worse for the game than one-sided criticism. It's certainly worse than honest complaints about omitted features and bugs that have persisted though countless revisions.

I don't have any issue with those not enjoying the game. Many of us are enjoying the game and feel there is lots of room for criticism and development. What I have a problem with is those diverting every thread in the forum to discuss an unrelated specific issue. Just a few minutes ago not five posts into a discussion about the availability of Gamma for new customers, had someone chimed in an ambiguous 2 line comment about their personal desired missing functionality and how the game would fail because x,y,z was missing. Completely silly and likely to chase away people showing an interest in the game. There is lots of good discussion going on in the appropriate places.

A forum with a balance of views is better than both.

Well misery loves company. I've personally seen comments that are negative about the game that I feel are way over reaching, but at the same time, while people are diving into threads and posting their concept of flaws with the game, there are people doing the exact opposite by posting threads like this with, with a snarky insult about entitlement in it directed at people who are posting negatively.

So you got new threads to try and chase away people who would say something negative about the game, and replies to threads trying to chase away people who would say something positive about the game.

Have you seen anyone making a negative comment about the game insulting those who support the game? I haven't seen those yet, but I've seen the opposite.

well said..... I love this game as well, through its ups and downs..... I will always love playing this game ..... here have some rep +1

Oh sure. Apparently I'm a fan-boy care-bare :-D

Oh, well, there you go, not very nice of them. Yes actually I do recall a few fan boy comments. Well, I think people should debate issues but stop attacking people for voicing their opinion positive or negative. Saying something is positive or negative itself isn't an attack, but there is no reason to directly insult the opposing view collectively.

With how upset people people are over the word care bear they better stop using the word griefer too, and stop calling pvpers it, it won't be tolerated!

I agree,

Sure I would love more things MORE THINGS YAAAAHhh! But I am not disappointed in what I have so far.

Huzzah, Here is to more awesomeness!

Well absolutely. During Alpha the griefer accusations got so bad people were accusing the NPCs of being player griefers. It got quite absurd to see threads about "<NPC Name> is hacking the game/personally griefing me THIS GAME IS FULL OF GRIEFERS!!!!1" ...but that's a whole different subject.

I never read the DDFs, so I don't feel like I've been cheated out of any "promised" features not yet delivered (or abandoned entirely.)
Do I think it's perfect at this time? No. But I'm enjoying playing what's there.

Truth be told, I'm rather shocked at some of the attitudes displayed on these forums since the start of Gamma. There seems to be an extreme lack of dignity being displayed in what was up until that point (mostly) a very mature forum and community. I can understand why people might be disappointed with some of the decisions made, the way they were communicated, or the eagerness of FD to let their product out the door, but the tantrums folks are having, Wow. Undignified.

Code:
uint8 internetAge = actualAge % 10;

Yes some people are way over the top. But as for reading the DDF's....just the webpage alone has some statements.
