Rare Commodities List!

Finally made it to Steve Master for a second time after completely missing the letterbox the first time smashing my ship to pieces!
Haven't done that for a while, I was trying to avoid a scan and I didn't even have any illegal goods. doh!
any way here's the pic for Chi Eridani Marine Paste:

Check out the supply, be interesting to see how long it lasts

Great news - patch 1.05 notes say supply is now individual and not shared, that should help general supplies a lot. Possibly Chi Eridani will have less, worth a check.

Cool...., but if they are only allowed to be sold at the BM which gives you very little for the effort, the desire to explore these things diminish. Need more avenues to sell items other than the BM.

I think it's awfu news. It breaks the whole dynamic market if you have a seperate stock pile of "rare" items for every player. They stop being rare and as they are in high supply , it makes trading anything else pretty much point less.

"Lets all trade in the same highly available item that's always in stock and there's never any competition because we all have lots kept aside for us all the time and there's more than enough for everyone" - That's not very rare. It reduces the whole market to a list of about 10+ items and the same number of stations. I've made about 800,000 in roughly an hour since the patch came in to play and I'm just flying a fairly standard cobra with 30 tonnes of space.

Love the idea of rare item, just wish the were actually rare.

Did you ever play monopoly when you were a kid and if you ran out of cash you could just help yourself to more?

I've managed to finish the third trade-run of rare commodities. This time I went from Eranin to Toxandji. After the Gamma 1.05 patch it seems that we now have a higher amount of rare commodities in stock due to the fact that we dosen't share them with oher players. I think this could unbalance the game. My first two runs were with only 1 tonne of Lavian Brandy and Phoenicis Palms. This time I was hauling 29 tonnes of Eranin Pearl Whisky! And already bought 32 tonnes of Toxandji Virocide :D.

The function for the curve fit is the same as for the other commodities.

Quest of the Lavian Brandy

The dashed line is the mean selling price shown in the commodities menu. After 100 LY you hit the average selling price. The sweet-spot for this commodity is also between 140 LY and 160 LY.

Some more numbers regarding trading rare commodities:

Total Distance: 194.76 LY
Trip Time: 01:40 hr

+532421 CR (Selling 29 tonnes @ 18049)
-46980 CR (Buying 29 tonnes @ 1620)
-12000 CR (Fuel)
-1000 CR (Paint and Repairs)
------------------
+472441CR (Profit)

This makes a profit of 283465 CR/h including the 11 stops at the different stations. If you use a fuel scoop and jump directly from system to system the profit per hour will be much higher.

I'm curious how you manage to get the map to show the full route between these destinations. I don't get one and I use a B4 FSD on the cobra.

I came to scoop up "rare artwork" sold for 6K apiece on the black market. But I'm not entirely sure it would be considered a rare commodity or if it's available for sale as a non-stolen item. Perhaps the 'stolen' flag was attached to these canisters due to their origin... namely the disintegrated pirate's hold, which I happily helped empty.

Tooo right it could unblaance the game. It's easy to make 10000cr per minute using a stock cobra since the messed with the way the market works.

With only a couple of weeks to go, I hope we see bug fixes and 'fixing' stuff that already works.

I first look in which direction my destination system is located. Afterwards I plan each next jumd depending if a system with a trading station is in this direction if not I look 2-3 times my jump range for other systems. In the 200 LY bubble around Sol there are plenty of inhabited systems.

If the respawn rate remains the same at 1 unit per 10 mins for the ones I have seen then players will clear out their supply of whisky/brandy etc and then will have to wait 24-48 hours for a new hold's worth of cargo to respawn.

I was tracking the rare's over the weekend and as soon as they popped up at Lave/Erani/Thrutis etc they disappared from the system as I suspect that people were camping the spawn and the iOS users could even use their app to grab them.

There is one thing making them rare and another making them impossible to get and making over 99% of the player base unable to even get them.

I assume that the dev's spotted this and this is the reason why that there has been a change.

Sounds about right. The out come is game breaking though. They seem to have made a little micro economy that sits out side of the rules and skews things massively. They could have just upped the resupply rate and capped the amount available.

What it looks like they have done is stop the camping but devalued the market as a whole and reduced the whole galactic trading system to a dozen places. Why go any where else to make an honest profit in 400 billion planets when you only need to trade in a 200 LY sphere?

Yes this was a great change for that reason, to make them accessible and the knowledge to be something shareable rather than hoarded. If they find people are making too much profit it's not a difficult thing to do to reduce the stocks available, or the respawn, or the profit, or even all 3. I do think the profit from rare goods should be slightly greater than mining and simple hauling, as the risks of travelling big distances are much greater and takes more effort, it also encourages players to actually continually travel rather than sit in one asteroid belt, or one/two systems. If there's a problem with income in the game it's bounty hunting and smuggling which need their income gains looked at, rather than pulling down other stuff atm.

I found experimental chemicals and ancient artifacts one right after the other within 15 min. As I was in a eagle I dumped the chems to pick up the artifacts thinking they were worth more. I sold them nearby and got 2500. Still don't know what was worth more though.

Can't get in the game as I am away with work. However, looking at the app, "Drones" have appeared as a commodity in the station I'm parked at. Are they everywhere?

Edit. Is this the new gamma?

Drones aren't visible in game in the market, but might be uses for ammo refill? They are actually limpet mines, not what anyone in their right mind would call a 'drone'.

It's definitely in the commodities list. Can't do a screenshot on my iPad though. They are at Budrys Station, HIP73773.
