what did you look for in a ship?
there's probably a host of obvious answers to that question, but likely a few surprising tastes n tips too...
distance
for me (a ffe player), there was usually one thing i always really tried to make sure i had. 13.67 distance for the jump. (i think thats right)
so i could get from sol to vans maneens star system in one jump. those poor religious nutters just love their luxury goods.
turrets
besides that point... it was the turrets when i wanted to ... cheat. hehe.
you see, with a turret, you could put your time drive to pause, and move around at your leasure to find your target, get lined up, start firing, and with a crafty keypress or two, get your target. ok, it still takes some skill. get into a situation too hairy n u might need a save to manage to get out of it.
top and bottom, and preferably one where you cant shoot your own ship.
size and speed
besides those factors, when up to the state of bulking it around for cash, it's all in the size and speed. so for me, it had to be the boa. not the biggest of the big ships, but the fastest. and...
looks
...the boa just looks great. simple, sleek.
other great lookers include the gyr, the wyvern, the merlin, the imperials, and of course, the most gorgeous of all, the austin martin of the interstellar space.... the viper mk2.
but no, really... i really do want to get to vans maneens in one jump.
... and have room for as much cargo as i can fit, and as much as the market allows.
there's a sweet spot.
