Rare Commodities List!

Rare goods are the only think that has made me in favour of player warehouse.
Not for profit, but for the idea of having, back at home base, a box of Eranin Pearl Whiskey, Lavian Brandy and Rusani Old Smokey

EDIT: I split it into sections which of those have been confirmed and which haven't been found yet. Note that system names are guesses by me using the route planner at https://cmdr.club/routes/ to find system names. They could be wrong, the commodity could have been moved elsewhere and the label not renamed or simply not yet implemented (or isn't a rare commodity at all).

Looks like I've been doing the same as you! Oh well it good to double check. I've posted on list Op.
BTW I used link from this post to find systems:
My new rare goods distances spreadsheet is extensible. Just put the new system name at the bottom of column A and at the end of row 1, extend the formulae, and the distance grid will be populated.
I think poster put up the wrong link but this one is also very useful!

The equation I've used to model the distance behaviour used the simple distance between the origin system and the selling location and not the real travelled distance during the trade run. I one of my runs I flew a circle without noticing.

This is really funny. I ran Hecate to Toxandji, 236 LY "as the bird flies", and the price here is 822 CR for Live Hecate Sea Worms. This is extremely strange. I will have to fly even further to see any change in price.

I think you guys are full of it on this 'rare' stuff!

I flew about 130 ly one way. Picked up 16 tons of the replicant animals from Xihe. Course, now my poor hauler has half it's jump range. Oops. So, I am working my way back, getting extremely frustrated with the extremely limited galaxy map. (It could at least keep a 'Recently Searched For' list in the drop down, eh?) Kept running into dead ends, having to back track, fighting off a million interdiction attempts. Finally sold half the stuff off, dumped my shields and gun (and the next jump got me interdicted, of course, one of the few times I managed to not evade, and damn near got spaced) and took me all damn night to get back home. Flew in a massive spiral, essentially.

For a 8K profit.

Per the 'galaxy average' that should have been closer to 40K! I made about 26K off scanning each star as I entered all those systems. Could have done that faster and safer in my Eagle, and netted a few bounties as well.

So, for 260+++ Ly Round trip, that ain't very cool. Took me....let's see....about 5.5 hours real time to do all that.

I think I'll just stick with doing the missions in my own neighborhood. They usually net me around 20-30K an hour. Or, take my Eagle and explore and bounty hunt instead.

@OP: Thanks for this thread!

At the rest: Here's a good tip! Aside from whatever you are flying.. Bring a good FSD! Saves lots of hassle.

Y U Mad Bro? :D

Yeah, you need to have at least 15 LY laden (see outfitting screen). It's only easy once you've figured out a route. It does work, I've made 1.5M profit runs, but if you read my posts here, I've mucked around because the distance thing isn't as advertised.

Just get better stuff on your ship, and you should be able to do this. TBH, doing normal trade runs is as profitable if you find a good route, but this is just less boring because you don't SC as much.

Checked out Utgaroar, Witchhaul, and Wolf 1301 all are a bust.

Checking on 1 or 2 more before calling it a night.

Ochoeng a no-show as well. Try some more tomorrow.

Plus you get to visit a ton of different systems. I finally got to collect on all those Empire, and Alliance bounty vouchers I had piling up. If you decide to sacrifice some cargo space for exploration equipment, you can make a few bucks off that as well (although not as much as you would with cargo space), and see lots of sites.

Fantastic work by everyone!
I've put together a very rudimentary form on my trade tool to help work out where to take rare trade items. It simply lets you see the distance, location and allegiance of the other trade items so it's easy to work out a return trip. It's on the 'Rare Trade' tab at http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/

Awesome Thrudd!!!

Is therea possibility to include a jump calculator as well?
(select your jump range and show the number of jumps needed behind every item/destination)

i.e.:

First step: Select rare-item
Second step: Select jump range
Third step: See result as below

Distance Return Trade ItemLocationAllegiance Jumps

I use this one for calculating jumps: http://www.miggy.org/games/elite-dangerous/routes/

Thank you, i know about different route calculators, but i had something else in mind.

I was asking to have every information in one place, so depending from your location you will see if the desired trade route is far enough (profit) but maybe consists of too much jumps, so you are better off with a route where you loose a little profit but don't have that many jumps, without cross checking every single route by hand at another website, writing stuff down and having your own tables and spreadsheets.

Although i have no idea if this is hard to implement in terms of coding or needed source data.

Yeah I keep updating it though until the last unconfirmed is gone from that list - it saves me to go somewhere where it's already confirmed to not have anything interesting. The list is now shrinking quite rapidly. Tonight I'm going to do some systems in empire space as I'm really near there now.

It seems to me you are doing it wrong or I have misunderstood what you are trying to do. Only the distance between buy and sell station matters, not the distance you were flying. If you fly a circle and sell it near to the start station then its clear that you gain no profit, no matter how many light years you have crossed.
And the profit value is no line but a curve, so you can skip the galactic average for rare goods. They have a sweet spot around 140 LY. At half distance for example you do not get half value, you simply get nothing worth the effort. So if you are not crossing the optimal distance, normal trades can indeed be the better solution for you. And of course you need a FSD which provides 15 LY jump distance if you want to use that effective.

I made a good fortune out of it which I would not have made with normal trades with my current equipment.

This is what I found also. Had to travel from Xihe to beyond He Bo to get 21,000 creds apiece for my companions.
At the around the halfway mark I would have been selling for about 10,000 creds per unit - I paid nearly 5,000 per unit.
So profit definitely increases at a greater rate the further you are prepared to travel.
Here's to extending those frontiers as quickly as possible :p
