Rare Commodities List!

Yes, It take like 5 mins for the server to catch up to u. But traveling 150LY still gives u the most profit.

Yet I sat in station for nearly 30 mins waiting for an update (doing other RL stuff) with no change. Even logging didn't make any difference. Yet when I went to another nearby station in the same system, it worked fine. I also went back to the original station with 1 cargo and prices were still borked there.
.
I think it's a bit more serious than just a timeout thing :(

I had a sell price for Xihe Bio Pets at around 15k(brought for 4.5k) @ approx 120 LY.

I moved on to 180LY and the sell price is about 4k each...a loss of 500 credits per t.

Does seem buggy!

Could it be now, that certain economic systems/stations, only buy specific rares?

You need 19 LY range laden. Less than 15 minutes door-to-door and don't be dumb like me: remember to wait for the price refresh at the destination."

Thank you!! This is big because not having to deal with Galaxy Map means I can start using Oculus again :D

Certainly possible. I think part of it is also the background simulation catching up with all the commanders currently trading in Rares. If another commander just offloaded 150+ tons, perhaps they don't need your shipment at the moment.

I suspect many commanders are buying and selling between stations that supply rare goods to limit "dead-heading" time (travelling with no cargo to sell) and those markets are getting saturated.

Ummm you gotta travel farther than 43LY, how about 200+LY to reach 16-18000cr prices

I realize that. My point was it was worth 1900cr last night and it's worth 1215cr today in the same location. I just traveled another 50LY and it's still worth 1215cr. It's worth less than it did this morning and it's not raising in price the farther away I get.

For myself I'm done with "maybe" and "perhaps" as long as FD doesn't deign explain what's going on when they change something. I"m ok for testing but not blind and my time has some value.

Oh well, it was good while it lasted - I got myself up to a reasonably slick Cobra in 2 days, something I have not come close to achieving in 2 weeks otherwise. Probably adds a bit of fun, though, it means we need to spend a bit of time flying around at the end point to find a good place to sell. I'll probably take th eopportunity to do a mission or two on the side...

I've been enjoying the 150LY trips though, I've been making about 30k/trip with exploration data, which is about what I used ot make bounty hunting in about the same sort of time frame (I took to just waiting for big bounty ships to turn up - blowing up sideys is quite dull).

I also went back to Xihe to sell off my FrEagle once I bought my Cobra - means I'm not forever wanting to head back "just in case" I want to fly some bounty missions.

I'm looking forward ot more exploration, and hopefully I'll find a rare commodity to add ott he list myself...

A huge thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread!

What happened? No supply at Chi Eridani?! And they no longer buy Heike Tea - I'd even make a loss at it!
Maybe they finally implemented a working economy? Maybe the guys at Steven Masters station stopped drinking Heikes tea after a thousand tons :)?
I should have come back earlier to earn more easy money :-(. Let's find a way around it...

If this is a nerf it is a shame as long hauling rares was fun and was a nice profit. I guess I can go back to just jumping 2-3 systems and getting 1000 cr a ton per system. Just a bit dull compared to running across known space. Given that the larger ships have replacement costs in the millions I for for one do not want to have to play for hours to make up for taking a combat mission and getting killed.

This is not a nerf, it is just a bug on top of an unbalanced mechanic. Still making the same profit, still getting the same large amount of units at some stations. Still broken.

Posting unfounded suspicions instead of actually testing things only creates white noise on the forums...just a thought ;)

When you haul rare goods to a station that sells rare goods itself, you get "low price / low supply" bug:

(numbers are the same for the two stations I tried, not sure if they are the same across the board)
Initial supply is 2 tons, average galactic price is 110, buy/sell price is around 200. This is for both rare goods the station sells and rare goods you bring in, obviously supply number is just for goods being sold.

If you wait for the next price update (~15 mins I think), both prices and supply jump back to the normal values.
This bug doesn't seem to happen when you go to a station that doesn't sell rare goods itself, at least I have yet to trigger it on a normal station.
Going to a normal station to sell, then going back to buy doesn't create a workaround - you still have to wait for the next price update. Staying outside of the station (i.e. travelling around the area) for longer than 15 mins doesn't help either.

They're not. I found one that still pays high profits.

One other thing I have noticed on the bugged ones was that when I went there to sell the rare goods supply of that station was only at 5 so I went somewhere else to sell my goods for the usual profit and when I returned to the bugged station supply had jumped to 76

I have seen it on a normal station as well - only thing special about it was being in Anarchy system.

Oh wow - that is exactly what is happening! Thanks a lot! Just switched back into game and everything is okay (- and yes I spent about 15min writing and reading on the board.) Have some rep.

Edit: on the next run I had this phenomenon only in Chi Eridani again - but not in Heike (the other rare commodities system I'm going to and from), so I still don't understand what triggered the bug. If it was a one-time only bug I thought, maybe it was a bad idea to log off with a full cargoload of rare goods from that station a few hours earlier (- just speculating). Or if it happened at the other side of the trade route in Heike at the same time, it could have even been intended, to slow down the money making by 15 min per run (about halfing the money earning potential and discouraging rare-to-rare runs). But as it is, I simply don't understand it.

If they changed the "per player" supply back to one supply for all? I mean the traffic report in Chi Eridani reports around 1500 ships... - but on the other hand I think in Heike it's like 700 and supply there was always below 200t -
then it should be zero now... - can't think of how it works - maybe ot is really just a bug as IceSerpent said.

2nd Edit: I don't know what to think now: this time it is the same bug in the Heike system - so now it's both ends of a rare-to-rare-trade.

This matches what I am seeing. Had regular supply at Chi an hour ago (>1000 units) however back there now and the supply is at 2 units and the gal avg is 270cr.

But... Waiting till the clock ticked over to quarter past the hour didn't change anything.

Any thoughts?

I was getting the same results, waiting 10 minutes for the refresh and the price would be fine but now I waited for more than 20 minutes on Chi and the sell price still at 205 and 2 units on stock so I get that theory is also wrong.

Try again, just updated for me ( at 22min past, not 15)
