Rare Commodities List!

Ok, so made my way back to Lave (from HIP 41141) with:
item, sell price, profit, distance from purchase.
Damna Carapaces 16237cr (15922cr) 231.33Ly
Rusani Old Smokey 23964cr (18154cr) 208.17Ly
HIP Proto-Squid 17867 (16378cr) 196.6LY

But I had to wait for a while. Lavian Brandy was sold initially at 2658ce/t but now it is back to the normal 3500cr/t.
Something really strange with this....but at least I got my profits and can do something else for a while (such as trying to get my hostile rep with federation repaired....)

I've calculated 3-leg routes that are between 140LY and 180LY per leg, here they are if you wish to test to see if this is viable:

Aegaeon/Delta Phoenicis/Toxandji
Belalans/Toxandji/Xihe
Any Na/Bast/Delta Phoenicis
Any Na/Ethgreze/Tanmark
Belalans/HR 7221/Kamitra
Belalans/Eranin/HR 7221
Bast/Belalans/HR 7221
Belalans/Eshu/Kamitra
Belalans/Kamitra/Xihe
Belalans/Damna/Xihe
CD-75 661/Hecate/Heike
Aegaeon/HR 7221/Helvetitj
Chi Eridani/Jaroua/Kamitra
Chi Eridani/HIP 41181/Helvetitj
Chi Eridani/Helvetitj/Thrutis
Chi Eridani/Helvetitj/Rusani
Chi Eridani/Heike/Thrutis
Chi Eridani/Heike/Rusani
Eshu/Jaroua/Kamitra
Jaroua/Kamitra/Tanmark
Ethgreze/Lave/Tanmark

Maybe this will play a part with them rare items in the future? (can't figure out how to trade with other ships...not implemented yet?) There were 3 T9's and from the comms chatter (something about out of sector items) looked like they were talking about rare items....Was at Lave btw and in the navigation list instantly (so no need to look for USS to see it)

I took ceremonial tea from Heike (bought in 1.05) and arrived at Lave, where they were offering a fraction of what I paid for it. Checked Leesti and the prices were worse: and they were selling Lavian Brandy! And had a couple of other rare goods listed, like Blue Milk. I found a outpost 35 ly away that bought the tea at 18k.

My guess is that too many rare goods can over-saturate the demand, and that Lave in particular is so overserviced that they're short on brandy and have too much of most everything else.

Or there could be a bug, but my current hypothesis is that the market forces are at work.

So, thought I'd check out Orrere (one jump from Lave). Can't see any rare items (Orrere - Sharon Lee Free Market - Orrerian Vicious Brew - 533cr - Supply 4t). For what it's worth, Lavian Brandy sells for 25cr profit, which looks alright to me being so close.
Going to sit at the station for a while and see if that Vicious Brew pops up...

I've travelled from Damna to Chi Eriani. I had the bug with the low prices, went to the neighboring station around the same planet, sold ok. But now I can't get enough Chi Eridani Marine Paste! I had only 1-4 spawn, with the 1 the supply was temporarily on low but it's back to high now. But I'm not seeing any high stock here at all.

I'm looking forward ot more exploration, and hopefully I'll find a rare commodity to add ott he list myself...

A huge thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread!
Z...

There's certainly more to do than just run cargo all night, lol. I look forward to seeing what you can find out there!

Fly Safe, Commander.

Posting unfounded suspicions instead of actually testing things only creates white noise on the forums...just a thought ;)

When you haul rare goods to a station that sells rare goods itself, you get "low price / low supply" bug:

(numbers are the same for the two stations I tried, not sure if they are the same across the board)
Initial supply is 2 tons, average galactic price is 110, buy/sell price is around 200. This is for both rare goods the station sells and rare goods you bring in, obviously supply number is just for goods being sold.

If you wait for the next price update (~15 mins I think), both prices and supply jump back to the normal values.
This bug doesn't seem to happen when you go to a station that doesn't sell rare goods itself, at least I have yet to trigger it on a normal station.
Going to a normal station to sell, then going back to buy doesn't create a workaround - you still have to wait for the next price update. Staying outside of the station (i.e. travelling around the area) for longer than 15 mins doesn't help either.

Good info there, thanks. I'd love to be testing it out, but unfortunately, I'm having issues updating to 2.0. Trying a fresh install now, hopefully that fixes things.

Additional data:

I traveled ~35 lightyears to Julanito and sold the tea there for a profit.

When I was at George Lucas in Leesti I purchased this:
26QLgWF.jpg
I returned there just now and it wasn't listed anymore.

I've found floating in space mainly at USS Rebel transmissions, rare artworks, trading data, and experimental chemicals
I've also seen someone post up they had found ancient artefacts
I don't think these items can be purchased on the commodities market
anyone else found any rare stuff?

I've picked up the rare artifacts and alien technology and sold both on the black market at about 1/2 their value and still made a juicy profit. My biggest complaint is that salvage is treated as stealing

I was thinking about this last night. If the economy is dynamic and player influenced then I'd expect to find price fluctuations like this. If many players are doing trips from one system selling rares to another system selling rares then it would make sense if the selling prices went down.

Doesn't look like there is anything reasonable governing the shift in prices from full to nill. I went to a very sparsely used system (117 hits in the last 24 hours) and the same issue popped up where they had supply of the rare with full buying prices, came back, no supply and very poor buying prices. It almost seems random.

I agree with this. I happened to have 2 different rares from Kamitra and Njangari (they are practically next to each other), which I planned to sell in a system close to Chi Eridani. I waited for the refresh, it took close to an hour, and they BOTH jumped in price at the same time. Does not feel like player driven at all, unless demand for saddles is highly correlated with demand for cigars. :p

I am now convinced it is a server-side bug.
