Is there any way you could tag these with [DRABBLE] or something similar? I keep reading these polls and wondering what the hell they're about??

The short answer is - No.

The prefixes are pre-defined and [DRABBLE] is not (yet) an option, but I do my best with "[WRITING] The (Real) Distress Call poll." for example

Maybe T.J could sort something out ?

"Where is my wine glass? Ah yes"

Ting, ting.

"Attention please Ladies and Gentlemen. And the winner is..... Cathy!"

Congrats. I think you are first double winner. One rule. You may not give the prize on to psykokow again.

Most kind. Thank you, it was closely fought that.

I'll keep my prize - the next subject is Contraband.

I would just like a vote.... I might do a fox pass... and vote for myself next time just so I can imagine someone thought mine was better :p

now for the next one.... hmm.

Contraband and the Contrabandista

‘Hey gringo, where’s sthe extras?’
‘Hold ya horses man it’s coming.’
‘You wanna be watchin’, don’ ya go callin’ me ponies or sthees won’ get sthrou.’
‘It takes time to power down that ship so there’s no heat signatures, or we’ll be traced.’
‘You and sthees hi-tech gizmos, yain’t got sthe nounce, tech can’t track me an me ponies, yea need eyes and ears and nose to follow me and me ponies.’
‘My hi-tech gizmos are what gives you yer money by smuggling these extras.’
‘jis get eet loaded gringo.’
‘Done. What’s your name anyway?’
‘Sthey jest call me Contrabandista!’

**** Note, its a bit of a crap one this time, had no ideas, might get more and re-submit a new one later*****

Hehe i know, be nice to just get one vote on a drabble to make you feel good ;) dont mean its bad, just not enough people voting, think 16 votes and 19 entries last one!

Hopefully if this thread carries on for some time others may join in, or at least vote, in the end still fun thinking drabbles up, am liking your new one...maybe a chance! ;)

The other thing is, people do vote for what they think is best, and I just don't think I can compare to the talent out there. When all said and done my first writing only started around KS time, when I re-read the Dark Wheel, and Stories on the frontier, and Adventures of Hesperus, Coyote's stuff, and Drew's Oolite saga. I've still not been brave enough to post part 1 out for people to read.... Might have a final proof read and then stick it out there.

Something else to help tide people over for the next 5-8 months depending on alpha/beta1/2/live game pledge.

I have to say I've seen a very noticeable improvement in quality from many submitters over the last few months. Practise does improve one's pen :)

You cant compare!? course you can, its just getting that one piece in no one else has thought of, and talent! i won last week(i was gob smacked) and only got one vote this week, not surprised! lol

and am making so much Crap up on The Thargoid Bar thread but loving it(probably annoying others but ive yet to be chucked out!)

So get your piece of writing out here so we can look at it, most people on the forums give good constructive criticism and am sure it will be good.

faint heart never won fair lady as they say ;)

You're right, TLG. With drabbles you just need one idea - one notion that's funny or twisty or poignant - and build a scene around it. The brave four-year-old looking at the other ship's pretty lights had me in bits!

Thanks Cathy, but i think ive peeked at the pinnacle of my career on Drabbles with my first one! lol ;)

As you say finding that new angle whether funny or not is one key and as Darren Grey said, getting the practice in to improve ones writing technique over every new themed drabble helps to......... like you seem to have done very well at! Double winner! :)

I know there's others out there wanting to contribute to, not just this thread but other ones like the Thargoid bar thread to, as the have PM me saying so.

but as much as i encourage them in regards that its free and easy, and everyone generally friendly, i think some are really worried how they will come across in style of writing or storytelling.

I hope they come and have a go, and with that i need to make a plan for your new theme Cathy, and damn that Darren with his, i was thinking along those lines! lol
