Metacritic user score is looking good so far

These people prematurely reviewed a game that has not been released. Or have played the finished game for 5 minutes.

You really can't go by a score based of 5 minute of gameplay right?

Metacritic is pretty useless for non-professional reviews.

Someone has a single bug that doesn't impact anyone else? 0/10

Someone disagrees with a popular opinion despite having a thousand viewpoints expressed against them? 0/10

Someone just has a bad day? 0/10

Someone doesn't understand 'Subject to change' parts of TOS? 0/10

It's a worthless tool for the masses, just gives people a chance to enact some sort of petty 'vengeance' upon perceived slights.

Or, you know, maybe, those are reviews from people that actually played the game since alpha or beta. <snip>

Those reviews are growing in seconds!... I wonder how are feeling this feedback in ED. I wish them luck and endurance, with all my best wishes. I'm having fun so far! :D

Does anyone actually use Metacritic to judge games by? If you do then you've probably bought a load of generic twaddle in the past and missed out on some great gems! How does taking an average opinion tell you anything about a product other than what an average opinion is? Surely it's better to find a reviewer or two with similar tastes to your own and go by their opinion all the while realising that one mans junk is another's gold and vice versa.

Some people are going by the months of Alpha / Beta / Gamma play time - or by personal gripes.

I doubt many of the "reviews" are based of "5 minute of gameplay"

More of the 10/10 reviews seem vacuous to me than the 0/10 ones.

sorry my bad english
elite dangerous just farm mob or pvp ,a banal mmo, only diference you are in the cockpit, no interest

Therefore 0 for boy fan who applied 10

Yes. The constructiveness in this review is amazing.

I didn't give it a good rating either but wrote a 2700 character long text to explain why and even mentioned the few good parts. I stick to my opinion and keep saying the game has been rushed for this release, is incoherent, very basic and feature incomplete. Come back in ~1 year and see where we are then. The game still has huge potential but it's just not done (right) yet.

That some people give it a bad rating because FDEV generated the false impression of ED being an MMO. Well, technicall it is, however most people will compare it with WoW and others by that term.

The reviews that I consider the worst ones are the fanboy posts, endless cheering and everything is OK for them. You just need to take a look at the forums to figure out that this isn't the truth. Also FDEV removed the Gamma forum which obviously contained a lot not so good looking threads.

I personally use the meta critique score as an indicator. I don't go just by it but usually the user score is the better one of the two. The offical reviews are very often far to good, guess they're either paid or don't spend as much time as some people who really play them.

Exactly.

I always liked PC Gamer in the UK, tongue in cheek and generally told the truth. At least when I read it a few years ago now!

IMHO 'Pro-Reviewers' are not that great either.

Reviewer gets invited to come and play the game at headquaters.... first class flight for free, goodie bag for free, stay in nice hotel for free, nice dinner for free...
Wow 'useless 'game reviewer score: 8.5 - vs real players score: 4.2

The low scores will average out as more entrees are collected. I stopped reading pro reviews years ago.. they are too biased.
The only review important to me is my own. Do I like the game, or not?

Metacritic is far more worthy than so-called gaming sites or "professional reviews". You really think that "professional reviewers" actually played a game for days before reviewing? No, they don't. People have every right to rate a game as they see fit, not for me to tell you how you should view a game. What I don't like about Metracritic is that they allow reviews to be posted when a game is not even released yet. So clearly we see people out there already "padding" the scores, because they know the bad reviews will be many, starting today. But when I see a 0 or a 10 for a game I played, I usually ignore those. Until you get a hundred or more gamer reviews, I think the sample is too small to draw opinions from it. But again, to say Metacritic is useless is void of any credbility, imo. Especially when there's nothing else out there nearly as credible for users/gamers.

If the issues in Gamma persist on release today, the scores will be ugly. And that's no one's fault but FD. Let's hope that the big issues are somehow fixed overnight.

Metacritics user reviews are a joke which shouldnt be taken seriouslyl, as any clown can come and "review" the game.

"I've been playing since premium beta (about 4-5 months).
Flight mechanics: Great, responsive and adrenaline fueled.
AI: Ok bordering on bad
Universe Sim: Weak and shallow
Trading: Good but currently broken
Supercruise: Terrible and boring
Combat: Fun but repetitive
Sound design: A*
Graphics: Very good but some odd decision made regarding supercruise HUD
Overall: Fun for a while but marred by terrible games design decisions ultimately resulting in a boring experience."

5/10

Yes that is the whole point of metacritic, well done for observing the basic premise of their system.

I trust metacritic score any time over paid for reviews. Over time metacritic score aggregates into a very accurate depiction of a games worth.

If you can't handle that I'm chalking you down as fanboy :)

Have a good day

I think we should all go there and make a review http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/elite-dangerous
Useless or not, it's part of the game that is at stake there and judging by the growing number of "0" i think the release of ED upset some

Go for it... the few fanboys on here that will give it 10/10 won't make much difference :p in the end the metacritic score will be very accurate, good day.
