Newcomer / Intro Will I Be Attacked By Other Online Players

I dont understand why anyone would like to play solo and that they dont like to get attacked by pirates or players. IMO it would be boring as hell. Yes its not probably nice thing to lose your ship if someone attacks you, but its part of the game. If you are a pirate, thats your job to get gargo from other players. I got interdicted by player pirate once and it was really cool.

Good reason for solo is when your trying to dock and its jammed with lots of other players, go solo and they all disappear lol. Apart from that I stick to Open. (Tip 1 - From Tef)

Would not worry much about it if new. Like has been said nothing valuable, also assault is one thing, then hitting your cargo hatch, but murder is another level altogether with serious consequences (bounty!). I imagine and player knowing the reputation and bounty system will be screaming NOOO! If you blow up by accident while pirating you, as no gain to them and lots of loss if in controlled space!
Just don't go wandering into anarchy space then going afk, may not be best idea.

If you are attacked by another player in a high security system, are there AI police tha get involved?

There's an option in your ship control panel (4), which is on by default - 'Notify authorities if I'm attacked' (or something like that). They will respond fairly quickly to trouble!

Gully Foyle I assume the Stars Are Your Destination heheh ;)

Yup, by default the setting Spruxxx mentioned is set to Notify Authorities.

If stopped in hypercruise by a npc or player, just put full throttle in engines (4 pips under power management), use booster for speed and keep hitting it every time enough power in it, also jink up and down and slightly left and right, it makes for hard target. I find can get away like this even with some big slow ships although i through some chaff out too for good measure. FSD will cool down quick enough then can re-engage it to escape.

Players who are experienced are more likely to chat and offer good advice, I would expect you should fear these less than new players trying out his new guns. For them just rinse and repeat para 2 in this response and they will get frustrated quickly, including the npcs :)

PS don't go for cup of tea or coffee while in hypercruise (cough), i would never do this then come back to an insurance screen..... honest.

Been attacked a few times now, even though i've just started.

It's the players griefing at the smaller stations that bother me, blocking the landing pads.
Having to log into solo play to actually dock is getting frustrating :(

Also there was a good bit of talk from a number of communities who say they will be looking for CMRD's who pray on the newcomers.

Yep, from time-time I'll go back to populated space looking for griefers, & I'll be happy to fly with other Commanders who want to do the same thing..

In which stations is this occuring? I think they're normally shot after long enough loitering on a pad. Maybe a bug? In any case, if I'm near one I kinda wanna come by w/ a sidey and ram them all off the pads until it starts getting expensive for them.
