Traders don't like exploring, Explorers don't like combat, Bounty Hunters don't like... anyone! ;)

But seriously, people getting so serious? This is a game, a sandbox game. It provides an environment to play in, any way you want. How you play, why you play and what you play are up to you.
I like shooting things. It doesn't pay great, progression is slow and I don't travel far. If I get bored later in the game then I'll trade, or explore. Who cares... It's FUN.

You do remember fun, don't you? :D

That's just it. They are taking away the ways WE like to play and making us conform to the ways THEY WANT us to play. Which in turn takes ALL of OUR "how, what, and why" right out of the mix. Sorry, this last nerfbat to rares is a big fail in my book. And heck, I'm not a big rare trader. Have a cobra, only about 9mill credits, jump around grab a few rares along with other commodities, take a few missions, move on. But I totally understand and agree with the people that are getting more and more upset with the back and forth on this. It seemd they had reached a happy medium with the way it was working. Now they go and monkey with it again. Makes me wonder, what's next?

Look out FD, it's getting warm in here!

For those who think that the people voicing their concerns are wrong or unjustified:

If I am thinking about quitting (and I am not alone) just weeks after I started playing the game, what do you think will happen to the game world if the players do not challenge the removal of things that motivate them to stay in the game?

If your OK with the nerf because it doesn't affect you. Fine. But you should care about other players leaving the game, otherwise your big sandbox will be empty. Remember, it doesn't affect you, so why are you OK with it affecting others negatively? If it doesn't affect you so much, support the people it does affect, or you will find those commanders over at RSI.

Well said. Constructive feedback is necessary.

They could make trading a little bit easier. In Elite frontier I recall there was a function that you could remotely get trade market of the station for a fee, with out have to dock. Its the docking process that make "normal" trading a bit tedious. But if we could remotely get an updated list from the station it would be easier to se if its worth to dock or move on.
Slopey made an app that gives you updated info as people land and post it. The problem is if you have 96t of cargo space you're going to make 100kcr max per run trading. It doesn't scale so if you're running 300t in a python (I don't know what a python carries so forgive me if it's off a little you make 300kcr per run, but fuel goes from 900cr to 2900cr. If you get interdicted and need repairs it's even worse.

Exactly!! Rep for you my friend!:D

FDev have painted themselves in to a bit of a corner here: if they revert the changes then they look even more knee jerk & clueless but if they keep the changes they stand to lose a lot of players quickly.

seems to me that it is like with the insurance thing....change it and wait for the flame war to start then revert it.....oh well time will tell :)

Thank you!

"- Tune matchmaking to significantly improve the chances of meeting other Commanders in space"

That one looks particularly good!

Perhaps if they tried something completely new and amazing, made any one of those two decisions and then honestly and straight forwardly explained the reasoning behind said decision, so either.

"Yeah, we made a knee jerk reaction which obviously didn't work out well, our intention was X but obviously the result was Y so apologies for the frustration. now go forth in the universe and kick some behind commanders!"

or

"The reasning behind our change was X, this is due to the direction for the game being Y and so after considering Z and X we found X to be the best implementation, obviously it sucks for people feeling shafted but we have faith in our direction for the game and thats that"

would be like.. a MASSIVE step up from this damn situation.

I think the real problem is nerfing things now is a little too early. They should do it when the content comes. But until then, give us something to do and make it fun.

Poor Devs. they do not deserve this. These decissions come from the top

I disagree. People are not complaining about having "their way" taken away. They are complaining it's getting just a little harder to get money. They want their easy-mode. Imagine trading is more than just rare commodities!

I've started trading rare goods just yesterday because the rest of the game is repetitive (jumps in Type-6 between two stations for 500k/hour), bugged (bounty hunting), unfinished (mining drones to scoop stuff?). I got 6 millions during like 10 hours - approximately the same income as I could get from extremely boring station jumping. And i got interdicted many times, shot, ship almost exploded during fuel scooping - it was fun.

Now I've simply returned to other MMO games - until FD will add any actually working and interesting gameplay to the game. Good luck keeping interest to the game, FD!
If people are bailing 2 days after release on a FREE to play game (they paid for the software but it's free to play) something is wrong, wronger, wrongest! So far Mining was nerfed after the big "exploit," was closed, Trading is a grind and you better have another app to keep track or you're going to lose big money, Bounty hunting is for Cobra III's or smaller, Piracy is pretty much the same as bounty hunting. Exploration won't pay out any more either so should the name be changed to Elite: Grindfest?

Would be. :)

Don't hold your breath though, FDEV communications... eh, how to put this nicely...? Yeah, you wanted to talk about flowers, right?

This statement is really pretty much wrong though.. There are far better ways to make money than rare trading the way it was. They just where tedious, not-fun, grindfests, not to mention, they still exist.

This. Also the business model requires new players signing up for continuing revenue (at least as revealed so far). I'm not recommending the game to anyone I know with it in this state so they're also losing future sales.

pretty much trading is now a grindfest

I was about to raise a ticket because it appears rares are broken, and now I find out that this was an intentional elimination of the fun I was having in this game. I'm really having a hard time seeing the reasoning behind this change. Very disappointing. :(

More like "meatgrinder"

This is PURE demagogy, don't talk about people, don't talk about me, talk about YOU.

My opinion: Never wanted that ED were a massive game, because it would be like any other game, i think FD CAN't make everybody happy, they just need to keep loyal to their idea, future will say who stays and who not.
