My loyalty lies with no faction. Each of them do things I agree with and disagree with, better for me to help them advance the things I agree with using my services rather than buying into the things I disagree with as well. Plus, I can earn more money if I'm not a loyalist.

What is freedom without honour, my family lost everything when my sister fell ill. If my father had not so nobley taken to slavery to pay the debts she would not be with us now.

I know, but to me, roleplaying a character who's spouting off about the virtues of human bondage is akin to roleplaying that your a National Socialist (swear filter?? Really, FD?) in my mind, and spouting off that Jews are inferior and subhuman - It's almost certainly in jest, of course, but it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It just doesn't sit right.
Let me clarify: I don't mean to spoil anybodys (legitimately innocent, non-hateful, non-racist, etc.) fun, nor do I wish to tell people how to play their game or roleplay their character, it just strikes me as, well... as I said before, disturbing.

The Empire is at peace with the other governments. The other governments, in turn, are trying to infest the Empires leadership like disease carrying rodents. At least an Imperial meets a foe head on with weapons blazing.
I'm already allied / friendly with the Feds and currently working on friendly status with empire and alliance. After that the fun starts as an interstellar man of mystery! Secrets to the highest bidder. Knives for the backs of the lowest.

These Imperial Slaves should be grateful there is a system in place to wipe away their indiscretions. It is certainly not the Empire's fault their parents weren't able to instill a hard work ethic and not living beyond their means, but it falls onto the Empire to take care of the mistakes these people have made. If those people cannot take care of their problems, the government has to take care of their large debts somehow. This way, they get to repay their debts somehow, and others benefit from the work they put in. No one gets a hand-out.
I've moved my operations to Imperial space. I'm more than happy to assist any corporations working under the Empire and hope they continue to prosper. The Federation is becoming too big for their britches and need to keep their noses out of areas which they do not understand.

It's this type of blind allegiance to the Federation that is causing the conflicts we are seeing today.
