Hey frontier - you broke the game

Sadly these types of problems are inevitable when you drop a patch a day and don't do any proper testing on a test server first. Patches can and will break the game, just like in gamma.
Hopefully everyone hit this time will get things fixed properly, but if these things were tested properly to begin with then these issues would be few and far between. If things continue like this, I would be very concerned that something happens in the near future that they cannot recover from, and users lose out on hours or days worth of progress.

Every major online game today has test servers who's only reason to exist is to prevent the types of problems we are seeing here with Elite and its development.
 
To go back to my earlier response regarding being unable to use FSD after undocking with the cargo bug, I think it's related to the cargo scoop. I noticed after undocking I can retract and deploy my landing gear, and my hard points, but I think the inconsistency with the cargo is affecting the scoop, the scoop will not deploy despite the key bound to it being pressed (even after 'discarding' all my cargo), and there is no message for it deploying or undeploying, so it could be in some kinda unknown state. Just speculating though.

Edit. After posting this, I logged out in space, logged back in in solo mode. While floating in space, I Jettisoned my supposed 18 tonnes of animal meat into space, but no canisters appeared in my scan. Then I pressed the button to deploy my cargo scoop. It deploys, but I recieve a cargo bay full message.

to summarize the complete issue.

Login in station.
Can not sell normally sellable items in station.
Can not successfully discard cargo in station.
Cargo in cargo area and market window inconsistent
Market window shows cargo bay full.

Undock
Retract landing gear
Get out of mass lock range of station
Activate FSD
get can not activate FSD message.
Deploy and retract landing gear sucessfully.
Deploy and retract hardpoints sucessfully
Can not deploy cargo scoop. no visual indications of cargo scooop state.
Attempt to activate FSD, get same error about cargo scoop/landing gear/hardpoints

Log out
Log in in space.
Jettison Full load of cargo.
No cans appear on scanner, in contacts list, or visible in space.
Cargo window appears empty.
deploy cargo scoop.
get Cargo Bay full warning
retract cargo scoop sucessfully.
Activate FSD successfully
throttle up and go into supercruise
pulled 180 degrees, locked onto station I was just at and re approach station.
open cargo window
See cargo is full.


I could go on.

And you actually think that Frontier is developing their game on the life servers, while everyone else is playing on it? Yes? They probably also play Zork on the console while waiting for the latest torrent to finish downloading.
 
Guys, I just bought some commodities with the cash I did have left and bing!!! My lost credits appeared. Either I got very lucky or Adam is gonna be back on soon.

We have just finished issuing credits refunds to everybody inconvenienced by this afternoon's server problem.

Commanders should find that their credits balance has just automatically increased to cover the value of all cargo scooped, missions completed, ships, modules and commodities sold.

For those missions which rewarded reputation instead of credits, we have refunded the purchase cost of the commodity units that would have been donated to the minor faction instead of awarding the reputation increase.

We appreciate your patience for the past 3 hours whilst we've calculated these refunds, so we have added a 20% bonus to all credits refunded which we hope will go some way to offset your time spent waiting.

Haulage cargo that has become stuck in your cargo holds because the mission is no longer present, should already have been cleared the next time you load into the game.

If you continue to experience troubles caused by this afternoon, then please log a support ticket in the usual way so that we can examine your circumstances individually.

Still broken here. Logged on: hold full of animal meat. Jettisoned, docked, relogged, cargo hold again stuffed with animal meat. Jesus....

Appreciate the speedy response and fix, but I'm not sure you've yet covered everybody affected. :)
But I guess I'm assuming my lost credits are due to the same issue, and they may not be... but would be helluva coincidence if not.
290k or so lost during a commodity trade at around 4:30pm GMT.
Left me with 3.5k
