Nonsense - the change was made because the rares weren't as rare as they should be. There's no conspiracy theory here.

Hi Michael,

Any chance you can take time away from the trade debate to comment on the Imperial missions? They seem to be more rare than these rare trade items, and few people are seeing missions after getting the first? Is this intended or another bug?

Same people that buy currency in every other MMO ever ? People who are so disenfranchised with the grind that they pony up for progression. Games that prey on these people are games that artificially induce grind and slow progression. Hmm.

Just a theory.

Well at the botton the deal is always money vs time today, but since Elite has no real progession that is kind of pointless here.
Selling Credits would remove the ONLY kind of progess you can make. Would make the entire game pointless.
So if you want to sell something to eliteplayers it has to be more like a +50% creditbooster...well that would work... your point!

I read about halfway through and feel inclined to chime in:

I get that people are a bit angry when things get changed in ways they do not understand or like. But the major reason for people seems to be that "trading is broken". Well, if - and I can't know for sure - this game works like advertised, markets will begin to change as we are influencing them. Yesterday for example I managed to clear a station of a single commodity. They are slowly getting back up, but it had an impact in trade routes, prices and so on.

My point is, that the game was launched two days ago. Not weeks. Or months. Even if it seems so for many who have been playing since Beta. So my opinion is: wait and see. The war is just starting. The markets are just beginning to feel the impact of all the players. It might well be that you are currently unable to sustain an income to support your anaconda or whatever. But that doesn't mean it's gonna stay this way. If the game launched with a wipe, you wouldn't have had your anaconda at this moment anyhow. Threatening to quit and whining like a little child seems useless to me. That said, of course you have to voice your opinion if you care even a little. But maybe keep it constructive and remember that the game just started.

Also I for one am glad that the development didn't stop after launch. It is the first time ever for me, to see developers so involved and determined to continue to support a game. Even if I don't always agree with the changes or think that other things should have more priority. But with this game I feel we're in it together. The players and the devs working hard to create an awesome experience.

Just my two cents.

You might want to check when your video was made SlickReed. That video was posted December 9th and happened during Gamma 1.0. The Rare fix happened in Gamma 2.0 and made this video "evidence" of yours completely obsolete. Please TRY to keep up with what is actually happening in the CURRENT build of the game and not try to make false points by referencing outdated and irrelevant data.

The video shows how much a 42 tonne load pays off in one trip. The time it takes to make this profit was nerfed with the previous build. But the fact still stands that a single run with 42 tonne of rares can net more the a mill. The new rare commodities change after release as shown that this was not the intention of FDEV. If this still doesn't make sense to you, maybe you should try reading the WHOLE thread before replying to a comment.

Hearing about duplicating rare good by drop/abandon/scoop is possible, please check for possible exploit.

With the decay timer on canisters and fines for dropping them near the station, I'd say this was pretty interesting if they managed to dock, buy, get out, drop and restock in the time before the canisters decayed. That would be amazing piloting.

Why bother raising a ticket when you don't even get a reply. I raised a ticket 2 days ago for an issue where a station just randomly decided to take me out and received an automated email stating I would be contacted within 48 hours. Do you think I've had a reply or the status on my ticket has been changed from "New" at all.

The support team are working through the tickets as quickly as they can.

But let's not forget that ED is NOT free-to-play.

I dont think it will happen, was more along the line "what could a evil game corp do to monetise ED". Think about it, IF you absolutly had to do something like that, this would be one of the best ways.

Michael,

While I don't agree with everything going on I will at least say thank you very much for taking so much time tonight answering posts!

Heh. Too bad I don't get one for the stupid AI jamming ships into the entrance of the Coriolis as I was trying to exit, and then having the station blow me up for 'loitering' because I couldn't get out or land again.:D
I've enjoyed that old chestnut since Beta 2. :\

I don't know to be honest. They should be working, but may not be generated often enough. It's on our list of things to look at.

What you aren't understanding is simply time invested. It was 30 minutes in Gamma 1.06. In Release 1.0+, it was 60+ minutes + 45 minutes travel. Totally different timeframes. You're just looking at a number, but not the time invested.

What he does in a single run can't be done like that since Gamma 2.0 in the timeframe. I can make 1 million in two hours trading superconductors. Should that be nerfed? I could make one million exploring for 3 hours, should that be nerfed?

A number, disregarding the time required to achieve that number, is a straw-man argument. Be done, already.

I have a sixteen days old ticket that has not been touched by the hand of support yet, and I have just raised another because I can't play.

Does this mean that it will take at least sixteen days before my new ticket gets handled? Will I be locked out from playing for at least that long?
I guess I'll have to find something else to do during my xmas vacation then...

Thank you Michael for taking your time and respond to many post here.

This is something I wrote on a private group on FB:

This game is quite amazing when you find the depths in it.
Gona share a good trade route in the xxx area. Resonant sep to a system xxxxxx. that system have minerals and metal on high supply. Good for taking missions where those are needed. Return trip to xxxxx with superconductors.
How ever iam trading between 2 fed systems xxxxx to xxxxx. as I want to raise rep with the feds. trade is from xxxx mineral extrac, profit 260/t return palladium prof 1050/t but best part is you can take a lot of missions from xxxxx and to raise rep. There is quest to deliver non lethal weapn, grain, etc. all stuff for those can be picked up in xxxxx, 5 LY from xxxxx. Only non lethal can be picked up at xxxx,,, ive raised so much rep and increased the influence at the fed stations so they are up to 75% now. sorry for the long post but I just wanted to share the things you do have an impact. trading have become better as well, when the influence is improved. So the players do make an impact

Ive X ed out the names :)

Thanks for the reply. :)

Is there anything special players need to do to trigger? Or should they just appear on the boards? People are really chasing their tails on this no details required just let us know if we need to trigger them or if they should just appear.
