I just haven't felt I want to play the game again after the rare nerf. Trying to find a trade route that is worthwhile doing it's not very motivating as I've done it many times before and those routes are broken now. Going on xmas vacation now and will be playing console games while I'm away from the computer, we'll see if I can find motivation to come back to ED after new years.

As I said earlier in the thread, with rare commodities re spawning I could log in for 5 mins every few hours when I had a spare moment and slowly over a day or two fill up my cobra 32ton hold. Then at night when finally getting a spare hour I could fly the 150ly and sell my rares. It would be a hugely enjoyable and risky journey and fun with a *huge* sense of accomplishment at the end with the sale of the goods.

This has now been removed for me. And I'm willing to presume it has done for many of your ardent supporters who are in a similar position to me.

Again my aim is not to get an anaconda. Or billions of CR. It's simply to creat a fully upgraded cobra.

@ Frontier : Read this ^. Really read it.

I am in exactly the same situation. A vast majority of your player base are what we might consider 'middle aged', or at least close. Many of us don't have the time to grind for hundreds of hours. If I wanted to, I'd be playing Eve or WoW.

What I want, ultimately is to enjoy the game.

Rare trading (as it was in 1.0.1) was making people a lot of money, sure. Nothing unreasonable though, considering how long people had to sit in stations for. Really active players won't sit for 5 hours to fill a Lakon/Asp. They'll be too busy playing the game.

For us with far less time, it was a perfect way to play semi-afk through the day and earn a reasonable daily income with a big journey in the evening.

My point is, you're massively punishing the more casual player with these changes, in the interests of balance. This was our way of playing the game at our pace; our only way for that matter.

Please, please re-think it.

Ditto. To say i felt deflated yesterday for the first time playing this game is an understatement

Here Here, well said.

Looong post, so please feel free to skip most of it, misunderstand me and then flame me for things I didn't actually say. ;)

Have to say - I'm surprised at this community, and a little ashamed of it when I see the amount of posts along the line of "I have a family and a job, and am too busy to play this game - so please change it to suit me".

I am 41 years old, I too have a busy job, a loving car, an expensive wife in the garage..etc etc...

I manage to play the game and have fun doing it. Sometimes I can only manage half an hour, sometimes I can manage a whole evening, sometimes days will go by where I don't log in - whatever, it would never occur to me to write 'open letters' to FD requesting the game is tailored around my needs. Maybe it's because I'm one of the original 84's, but I knew what I was getting into when I bought this game - it's a 'long term' thing...and if all I can manage in an evening's play is to stick a fuel scoop on my sidewinder because my daughter needs help with her homework, I'm a happy man - I know the game will be there tomorrow, and the next day and so on...

I see people saying 'it's not about the credits, it's about the fun'...well, I'm calling bullsh*t on that one guys - you can have the same amount of fun by sitting a station that sells expensive commods, lets say Palladium, and buying one or two units every ten minutes...when you're done, fly in any direction for two hundred ly's with your risky, expensive cargo and sell. If it's really 'not about the credits', you have essentially replicated the process and had your fun!

But let's tune into Reality FM for a second - people are upset about the easy money going bye-bye. Well, to them I'd say suck it up, and just be grateful this was changed with a nerf and that the release wipe didn't happen, or that FD didn't roll your money back - take what you made and enjoy it.

So c'mon - some of you really need to act your age here. If the game really isn't for you, for whatever reason - it's not the games fault. Or you fault for that matter - just move on...and try and move on without the 'I don't like it so no one else will so this game sucks and FD will go bust' post that seems almost obligatory now. :(

On the plus side, thanks to all the whining about rares in these forums, I went to see what all the fuss was about - spent about two hours last night filling my Type 6 with rares from 12 different systems before some real life happened and i had to stop. This morning, I zooped off in straightish line to a planet that was about (give or take-ish) 180 ly from everywhere I'd been...1.6 million credits profit. Now, it's not the mega profit that people here have been complaining about, but it cheered me right up...so every cloud really does have a silver lining...now does anyone know where I can sell the silver? :)

What you "my rare stuffz got ze nerfed" guys still dont get is that everything in a MMO game these days with a high "static" income will be abused by bot programs and probably was already abused by such, cause programming something that clicks every 10min your mouse isnt really that hard. The "static" location of the rare stuff is the killer, make them random every 24 or 12 hours and Frontier could un-nerf it again but I guess its easier to just nerf it like they did now.
I´m all for progressing at a reasonable speed in a game but it should be done by playing the game and not by AFKìng or useing a bot to do your progress. I´m currently doing 120k every 10min by doing a "normal" trade run but I have to play the game and be on my comp all time to make this number.
If you dont like the concept of an MMO game there are plenty of other game that dont involve grinding and progression... how about some Farmer Simulator 2015 ?

What happened to the 1.03 patch log?

Seems they're a little late so I'll post this, it's in the launcher:

- Adds option to hide the orbit lines
shown in Supercruise
- Adds control bindings icons for
some of the most popular control
devices
- Reduces likelihood of NPC ships
claiming bounties after a player
has weakened an opponent
- Plus incremental improvements
based on feedback from 1.02

Drat. The UI color changes went back to default after the patch.

Here's my "trick" to the nerfed rares issue: I fly a route around a lot of rares stations picking up everything they have and then jumping my way 100ly to another rares station and so on and so forth until I'm eventually far enough in the circle to sell at least half my cargo and build up my credits for the next upgrade/ship. Then it's off to Founder's World to sell the rest and buy some upgrades and start the circle again. Selling carto data helps pay for in-system-use fuel, my A-level scoop does the rest rather quickly.
Right now I'm in a Cobra that is almost fully upgraded and most of that work was done last night for about 6 hours. Once it's completely upgraded I'll be working on fully upgrading a cargo hauling Adder to do this run and reconfiguring the Cobra in a pure combat role.

Also, I forgot to add: when life gives you lemons, burn life's house down.

Cool! There's an 1.03 already? And I know lots of people wanted orbits off in SC...
