Are you actually using the scanner? You need to assign the scanner to a fire group, deploy weapons, and then "fire" the scanner. It will then reveal all "unexplored" objects within a radius of 500ls so that you can then fly to each one and scan them.
Whoever you sell your data to.
I know this might seem like a dumb question but...
..Can I use th basic scanner to target those newly appeared planets or do I need one of the other scanners?
ie ..
- Arrive in system.
- Scan system (discover things and acquire information to sell)
- Cycle through planets found
- Target each one in turn
- Fire same scanner I already have (Acquirring more information to sell)
Is this correct?
Robert Scott, two years odd trying to be the first man to the South Pole. Gets there to find some Norwegian chap has beaten him to it. Dies just before making it back to base. Exploring; complete waste of time.
If you see Elite Dangerous as a game all about making money then Exploring isn't currently going to be for you. However, until you explore you won't find anything interesting. However, given that exploring is one of the things you can gain Elite Status for, I have every confidence that there will be interesting things to find. This is what I'm doing at the moment and it's proving very entertaining. You still get USS's popping up in systems a long way outside the Frontier of explored space. As the systems are all Anarchy you can happily behave as badly as you want without any fear of recriminations. I normally make a several thousands with a Kill Warrant scanner in each new system I find.
