I'm sharing this with you because at 3:27am my wife won't listen!

This might sound bad, but thank you both for affirming my decision to remain single. Stark reminders for my moments of loneliness when tempted by the fantasy of finding a partner; the moments when I most want to lose myself in ED...

While there are times I envy the single folk, nothing can replace the joys of a little one playing Elite with you :)

Landing gear:

By the way, the devs are planning that at one point, we are going to be able to walk around our own ships. Sometime next year.

That's a great picture. I've had some moments like that (especially seeing the tiny shadow of my Viper cast on a massive space station), but I always forget to take screenshots!

:)

I guess there are positives and negatives to each circumstance... :)

Edit: your little co-pilot! You need to get him his own mini-remlock for Christmas ;)

I think it's a choice well taken. I've been married three times before my current arrangement. And even though I don't regret (much) having had these personal ties with three great people. I do feel that while I'm sharing my life with another, something is being taken away from what I'd like to do instead at certain times.

The deal is; if you can't live alone and simply must have that special someone to bounce around with, then by all means do so. But expect that the other person will require time, care and patience. The 10K question is; Will that other person correspond in like to your needs? So care must be taken to be with the right person above anything else. In my case, I was not for three instances, with this last one being the charm. She's a keeper so I sacrifice things I would not with anyone else. And having outgrown my habits of codependency, things tend to have smoothed out (finally) for me.

Then there's the kids. I have a total of 5. Ages 31, 29, 27, 25 and 9. But, one need not get married to have children so... All I can say is GOOD LUCK folks!

Have some more rep from a fellow cmdr who also gaped in wonder at the first time his Cobra MkIII left its shadow across the station while doing a flyby to look at the farms on the inside of the rings :) awesome....

Cue my jaw dropping over perhaps the silliest thing but just seeing the shadow change as I maneuvered and even better seeing the landing gear engage... and retract... and engage (well it WAS a thing of beauty!).... *SIGH*
Thank you SO much FD what a creation this is!

Congrats on the kill! +rep

The visuals really are amazing but sometimes you happen to spot something really special. Seeing your ships shadow on a looming station is one of those things and shows you just how big they really are. A while back there were doubts regarding the scale of stations but I believe this was chalked up to our brain being tricked by these large scale objects that we aren't accustomed to viewing. Another player looking on or a good shot of your shadow shows this quite nicely.

The best thing I have ever seen was coming in to land at an Orbis station that was in the shadow of the planet/moon it was orbiting. It was all lit up by this little red lights and it was the only thing you could see as it was pitch black in that shadow. Beautiful barely does it justice.

PS. I never believed your dad was a traitor! :)

The other night, while trying to get her to comprehend. I began a conversation with... "How would you like to be able to actually 'Live the movies you watch?'" That instantly grabber her Virgo attention.
"Oh? that would be so cool! If we could do that..." Then I said... "Plus be able to actually BE INSIDE the movie, walk around, manipulate things, see what's in the other rooms the actors are having they're scene.. etc."
She got more and more excited and says "Wow!... Now there's something people would really enjoy doing!"... So I dropped the cold hard brick and said "Well, THAT, baby... is computer gaming. That is what we're going to be seeing in very short years. Being able to LIVE the movies we watch.".... She INSTANTLY got that glassy look on her face again, and literally faded into her chair... and mumbled... "Ah.. again with your little video-game thingies"...

LOL

Sometimes I get the impression that all she 'sees' while looking at my screen is Mario Bros.. regardless of what's actually there... *sigh*
