ED: I luv it ... i hate it

Big boys would generally hold enough money back so as not to use the loan though? Never used it myself, no intention to...

Sorry for OP, but should know better.

Perhaps the game could notify you before it's too late (death screen)? If someone never dies, they wouldn't know about the extremely low loan limit.

People here need to start thinking and stop blaming players for odd design choices. This "feature" will cause a lot of people to quit and adds nothing to the game.

mmmm, probably better to just delete the insurance system altogether. Make it totally clear that your balance is all you have.

It's up to the player what risks to take

We have insurance.
We have loans.
We have interdictions almost removed.
We have collision damage nerfed so you need to pretty much boost into the wall.
He even said its his own fault that it happened.
I dont know what more frontier can do. Infinite cash maybe, Indestructible ships, ships that can fly through walls? What will be enough to stop the nerf moaning.

Where in the game is this loan and its cap DISPLAYED for everyone to see?? Please enlighten me...

Go to the right hand panel, it's under finances.

The loan is designed to keep players from losing progress (and interest) early on in the game, I just bought a viper and now i cant even afford to fuel it. If i died suddenly I wouldn't want to restart, the loan allows me to carry on but you've spent countless millions, earned countless million to keep enough millions on hand to pay your dues. So it's user error.

A feature where you can lock out funds, (say the cost of a insurance payout or two) so they can't be accidentally spent and thus preventing leaving you in such a situation would be good.

No more hand holding etc. Agreed.

I do understand the frustration though.

Perhaps it would be a simple thing, when new commanders start out they are presented with a short "Commander, here are the keys to your ship. These are your insurance terms. If you fly into something big, at speed, all warranties will be null and void, if you hang around in anarchy systems you are likely to meet pew pew death blah blah blah list all the stuff that enrages people....do you understand these terms y/n load new commander"

Tongue in cheek perhaps? ? ?

I do feel your pain OP . But looking at your screen shot Im struggling to be totaly symathetic if Im honest . Your panel would have told you that its nearly 1.5 mill just for the ship , you have 900,000 credits in the bank . The risk was totaly yours and you took it and blew it. I do feel for you as we all take risks but that is the nature of risk.

Just take a few days out and then realise its not really the games fault it was yours , sorry for being brutal but thats the truth of it.

I dont. Its beyond ridiculous imo, The game has barely any consequence or risk mechanic as it is, what it did have has been nerfed almost out of existence because of so called gamers wanting it removed, yet its still not enough to satisfy them. And 99% of it is player error anyway.

I'm completely and utterly stunned and shocked by all the players wanting all risk removed. Ive never witnessed anything like this before in my life of gaming, especially from a PC audience who are normally the first to complain about things being made pick up and play, and Ive played alot of games on lot of platforms on a lot of forums.

you could save money? Yes you can buy your favorite ship later, but you still have money in the bank when it goes wrong.

the funny thing: its those same people who will then claim how boring the game is ...

So apparently I broke the forum filter with my reply.

Exactly. They only want the risk removed so they can grind the best gear in the shortest possible time, then as soon as they are done grinding the best gear will be on the forums demanding it to be put back in so theres something to use it on.

I said nothing about removing risk, just perhaps clearly informing new commanders of what minimal risks there are. At least then there can be none of this I did not know .

IMO risks need to be increased in many areas.

Sucks to have lost the ship and time put in. 200k is an arbitrary number but ultimately it is the responsibility of the player to fund himself.

it is, could be 2 million, then we see threads "why isnt it 3 million just lost my ship".

i think there should be a venting corner for people lost their ship due to their own fault in this forum, which you then can safely ignore ^^

It only shows the buy back cost and not the loan or the cap of the loan which is, in my reply, where I asked where it states this... not the buy back. I think you misundertstood my post.

Third paragraph, word beginning with S.

Although i agree that's a silly one. Its a medical term for that part of the body. Seems strange they censor that, its not offensive. I mean, you could probably write something like "ball sack" or "family jewels" and people will know exactly what you mean anyway.

You can try reporting it as being too restrictive, although i think in this case they will say that it is considered offensive... my big hairy dingly danglies.

By the way, i actively encourage people who want to use rude language to instead use the word Jameson in place of them.

eg: I hate this Jamesoning game. Its completely Jamesoned up! Jameson it, i'm outta here!

My theory is, if it becomes a commonly used swear word, then FD will have to censor it! :D

Until i discover that the Loan's are capped at 200k. Well to be honest I really do not feel like restarting and working my way back up to earning another ~80 million credits and putting in countless hours to do so just because the Loan system has some arbitrary cap that is totally useless for anyone in but one of the basic ships.

Pro tip: It never hurt to read what is displayed on screen ;) If you knew about the loan system, you had a fair chance of also knowing about the cap.
