I can't believe some aren't bored with this game

In fairness he makes valid points all be it framed in a poorly contrived way. There is no getting round it if you're ok with the current state of affairs and you've played it for a while already, I think it's a fair assessment to say that you live a fairly empty and boring life.

Wow, good thing your assessment means not very much then.

Truth is the game can, and almost certainly will be improved. That said if you are looking for another Eve, Battlefield in space or anything which will give you that special snowflake moment then you are going to be disappointed in Elite now or after many updates.

Elite: Dangerous is a great sandbox. YOU make the game, not the game makes your game. Grinding credits for no reason but for credits will be boring very soon. Just make your actions have a meaning, support local and major factions, explore systems where no one gets in the next year, etc.

I found the Alliance and lots of other players fighting for the same goal. Every mission and every kill has a reward greater than credits. That's MY motivation. Get one yourself, the game won't do it for you.

New accounts should definately linked to game accounts and moderated to keep the kiddie trolls at bay.

Also maybe have people's age and real name at the end of their post. May lighten the insult:
Zach, aged 42.9

A totally constructive point, which was replied to originally.

But hey, thats my personal opinion, so don't get hurt there. If you do get hurt, and reply to this in a bad manner - its because truth hurts.

Confirmation bias, also called myside bias, is the tendency to search for, remember, or interpret information in a way that confirms one's beliefs or hypotheses.

Hey I'm 44, but if like Sargon I was earning a six figure sum 20 years ago I somehow don't think I would be hanging about this forum, I would most likely be on a yacht South of France somewhere surrounded by call girls champagne and white powder... i have no teeth and have to crush my rennies these days, anyway that's just me takes allsorts :)

When someone says ''ED is a sandbox'' i imagine standing in the middle of a desert and someone whispering in my ear, ''its a sandbox, you can do what ever you want''

I feel bad for you all of a sudden. You bought all that hardware but the game failed to meet your expectations, that sucks. Technically this is an MMO, albeit I can understand your frustration otherwise seeing is that the social aspects of the games have yet to be fully implemented. Not to mention the player base not being as great as say Eve for example.

As a business man, you should know better than that. Imagine a customer wanting to do business only to be shamed by you the owner of the company for spending time and money on your useless services.
What breaks my heart is trying to understand what the 40 year old players did to you in order for you to offend them? Here's the thing.
At 23, you couldn't possibly understand how it felt to play the first elite as a child during their younger years. This isn't about repetitiveness, this is about experiencing something that hasn't been around for some 30 years.
Many of these 40 year old's grew up with Elite, as many have already stated, they enjoyed the time spent with parents or friends or even alone. This is more sentimental to others as compared otherwise. Which I'm positive you have experiences in other gaming titles

Here is where the tide turns, disregard any motion towards retorting your opinion in order to feed your ego. At this point any rebuttal geared for debate is null, since you've taken the time to offend us by insinuating that we are nothing more than a bunch of mindless drones with nothing better to do in life, in a way contradicts you buying up all that hardware to join our ranks. So does this opinion make you any better than the rest of us? Oh wait, you were talking about truth. Well, truth is I for one could care less about any attempt to hurt my or anyone else's feelings. Because when it all boils down to it, not a single member of this community put a gun to your head and forced you to buy the both the hardware or the game. With that said, regardless of this part, you are one of us. Oh and by the way, glad to have you on board LOL.

Can't argue here, I for one enjoy it including a few other titles.

Of course it was intended to be this way. Elite was created with the objective of pure freedom. Keep in mind that this isn't the only video game ever created. Must I remind you that if you feel the need, there are more games you are welcome to play when you're not in the mood for Elite. Evochron is another good title. Now we spent our hard earned money on this game, that gives us the privilege of playing it however we see fit. What bothers me here, is seeing that you are on your way to earning "5 figures" based on a career in web design (extremely hard to believe, but I'm just gonna go with it for now...) you seem to have an issue with owning a particular game versus whatever else you have in your arsenal. In total, I own some close to 300+ games. I don't play them all, some I've never even touched. But this is simply a hobby of mine. I'm damn glad to own Elite. I'm glad to add it to my list of games, it's a great asset that adds to the value of my $10,000 library. (see what I did there?)

Go to Frontier's main website to learn about the actual company. They've been doing this for a long time, Braben has been doing this before you and I were even born, not to mention this isn't the only project they've worked on. Now I can understand again the importance of strengthening the economic aspects of the game per se. When it comes to Eve, even colleges study the games economy to gain better insight. So what if Elite's economy in the future becomes as great as Eve? Would this satisfy you?
*Sigh*
Alright look, I'm going to look past the "possibility of trolling" Just so that if anyone comes close to your inquiry, they could look past the smoke and mirrors and use reasoning. I'm going to say this straight, YES the game has a LONG way to go still. There are certain parts of the game that frustrate the hell out of me. This isn't the only one, but if it were not for myself owning 300 games, I would be in the same boat as you, honestly. But throughout my years of gaming, I've come to understand the hardships of this subject. If a game flops, surely someone's going to play it and enjoy it. Which is all that matters to me, I've played games that I've come to hate. I've contacted storefronts and devs DEMANDING refunds angry to the brim. But that's the beauty of it. There's no value if there's no passion. By the way, I along with the rest of us DO have a life. I forgot to bring this up, but the reason I game is not because my life sucks, which it does :). It's because I simply love it. So if that doesn't tickle your fancy, so be it. I hope everything works out for you, but then again based on your attitude towards innocent players, I kinda now don't.

Got bored reading the OP post. Not enough excitement in it and enough to do. It was also dull and boring and repetitive. I'm having a blast with the game.
