How true! This YouTuber gets it!

kind of like saying 'welcome to earth bro'

yup the sky is also blue from down here

I should be more clear.

so yeah I think the vast majority of people who have seen a trailer figures out that game trailers and game play is rarely the same thing. This skill is aquired around the age of...maybe 4. and yet it makes one laugh now?

what the actual...?

It's worse than that...they can't even grasp the concept of "Trailer". To the OP...just go watch all the cinematic trailers in WoW...just sayin'
exactly...

If one is going to make a video showing something that is common in all games as an attempt at humor they might want to start by at least showing combat footage when showing combat trailer.

-10 for pointing out what all games do
-10 for not even doing it well

Oh and unlike ubisoft at least the actual game play shown is the actual game play

Oh they understand. It's just a cheap easy shot because some people are like that. Haters will always hate...it's what they do. I'd love to hear what they think of the Blizzard cinematic trailers...some of the best in the industry. They're always so highly anticipated and people love them. I don't remember anyone saying "What a ripoff, StarCraft isn't anything like that!", lol.

THIS. EXACTLY THIS!!! its a cinematic. And it says at the beginning, as it should, something to the effect of "not in-game footage". Something that's even smaller and harder to read in the blizzard cine-trailers. And yet no one complains this vehemently to their "fake trailers". And the same goes for endless other cine-trailers for "AAA" titles.

I think I would have had a lot less to say if they showed combat during the combat part of the trailer. how hard is that to get wrong

It's interesting that the guys that made that trailer obviously knew what would make a fun and enticing space experience.

pity they were not involved in the actual game making, then at least someone would have a clue what it takes to make a game will both fun and depth

i think people are roasting the elite trailer because it doesn't portray the spirit of the game. even if a trailer is inaccurate in particulars or takes liberties with actual gameplay, it should endeavour to remain true to the spirit of the game. The trailer departs enough from the game that it doesn't meet this benchmark.

p.s. 'not ingame footage' is a graphics quality disclaimer, not a 'do whatever you want' wild card.

Eve and Wow has been doing the same type of trailers for more than a decade now.

You are right but its fair to point that out as well

To the last bit of your post.that's what it means to you. Developers, in all companies, seem to disagree. Therefore, to keep yourself from appearing to be ignorant, you should adapt your thinking to fit the definition most commonly attributed to the phrase. Not what you HOPE it means, but what it means to 99% of development houses the world over.

A Trailer should at least represent the game. The Elite Trailer is in my opinion a little bit to far from the actuall ingame experience. Someone brought up the StarCraft Trailers, they at least catch the spirit of the game. The Elite Trailer does not. If u want an example for a good made trailer look at the Eve Dominion Trailer or at the This is Eve 2014 Trailer.

Well... you did hit the nail on the head there, but we willhave to agree to disagree. The first time I watched the trailer, it felt like every tense moment I've been thru in-game balled up and wrapped into a 2-min segment. FOR ME, and a whole ton of other CMDRs out there, I think it captured the "Spirit of the Game" perfectly.

As for your EVE trailer, no thanks. The spirit of that game, for me, is in its "pop-up trade sim" style. But that's where opinions emerge and the truth slides away.

Elite Dangerous isn't fully "out" yet. I'm sure those things WILL be implemented in the near future. Would you rather wait for full features or start playing first? For me I rather start playing first, making credits, getting familiar then waiting for planetary landings, walking around space stations, etc. Frontier Developments already said they are hoping those stuff will be in the game in the near future.

What stuff are you talking about? There's nothing in the trailer (allbeit, stylized for marketing) that isn't in game already.
