Reading the forums I get the impression I am doing something very very wrong indeed...
I read about the traders making millions of creds per trip...truckers in space...
I found that I was placed in a random start location and had to visit the surrounding systems to identify the trade import/export commodities, I then had to take note of the demand and quantities..(some anomolies in this part of the game, still needs tweaking....or is it settling down still?).
This revealed to me the many uses, and limitations of the galaxy map. I never knew it was so versatile.....and I was a Gamma AND Beta player
Finding this trade information was financed with jobs from the bulletin boards in each system I visited, Identifying jobs that fitted my jump range and general direction, Now I have a good knowledge of the systems local to me and make a decent income from trading runs. Am I now a 'easy mode trader' ????
Next comes the PvP/Interdictions/Griefing/Pirating
Having played exclusively ONLINE for over six months...I can say with a degree of experience.....Player on player deaths TO ME have happened TWO TIMES!!!!..(Both times In Beta) and I was destroyed both times....In my defence (to save some credibility)..One I was mining and not concentrating on my surroundings until I was floating in space
..the other was in a conflict zone..where Death is expected (but still unpleasant). Because I still spend a lot of my playtime running 'pizza delivery' missions along with trading.....I feel I should be starting the game in SOLO mode????
And I also cannot find...no matter how hard I try ...the 'No Game/Shallow/Repetitive/Not Rewarding' aspects of the Game ???
During system scans with my basic scanner I have uncovered (and noted), mining rich areas to be visited if/when I get back into that, I have discovered stations that added to my potential trade routes..A mundane task that has has one system refusing to reveal the second star I know is in there...It remains unknown and I have revisited it several times since to find it.....It's become my nemesis and I will continue to return until I discover all it's secrets!!!!
Player actions ingame have no consequences...
Again, I fail to comprehend what the posters are trying to say !!!??
I have to be very careful what missions I take, my 'home' system consists of competing factions...as a trader/pizza man I want to have all on my client list...and I must admit that I am a little nervous because I am allied to a faction in one system who is in 'player created' turmoil..and I am away on vacation wondering what will happen to my faction status....will my allied faction even exist when I return in the new year???....
Even staying Neutral to the big three I seem to be engrossed in the politics of the universe !!!..
So..what am I doing wrong?...where is Elite Dangerous Hiding this Shallow, repetitive, and non challenging gameplay??? !!!!!
Happy New Year Commanders!!!! (looking forward to getting back to the Elite Universe in the new year)
