Am i playing this game wrong !

Nice Post.

Luckily the ones who find it boring/ non challenging etc, are pretty new to gaming.

Back in the day, there was no hand holding, there was no end game... you had two types of games.
Single player, play through with no save files to the end and complete, or get game over and start again.
Or play a sandbox game with no multiplayer, no hand holding, no "quests", no zone gating, none of this wow-esque content that you get in today's games.

ED is staying true to the core of old school gaming. Play how you want, use the systems they have in place to simply create your own path and enjoy the game.

What I see is a pattern with all these complainers. They aim to get the top ships in a couple of weeks, their entire gameplay goal is around credits p/h, and how much one can make so quickly.
When they realize that they can't make as much as they hope then they complain.
Then they decide to put all their eggs in one basket, hoping to score a large amount of credits from a trade route, and get blown up... then wonder why they didn't have enough for insurance.
Then come to the forum and complain about it being too "cruel".

It's petty. The whole thing really. These complainers have absolutely no idea how to simply enjoy a game for what it is. Because most games have end game objectives.
Take WoW for example. End game is raiding. But once you obtain all that raiding gear... you grind reputation. Then you get that... then what next? Unsub and wait for the expansion. Typical really. Once people run out of objectives to complete, they'll stop playing.

Too bad there is no end game objective here for ED for them. If people want that kind of raiding/ gear grinding end game then they won't find it here, and complaining on the forums about how lackluster the game is, and how it's simply "boring"... sorry, but you're just not playing it right.

The idea of the game is to simply play in the sandbox and have fun. Do what you want.
What happens when you do get the anaconda and enough to maintain it? Quit the game?

It's just not how ED is designed. It's designed simply to jump in, play and enjoy what the game has to offer. Try everything, explore the galaxy... learn some new maneuvers, get involved in PvP, try to cause civil war in systems.

Just don't complain when the game isn't offering you what you want. Because ED isn't about you. You are not the one to save the world because you are almighty and powerful, and to get that power again you just have to grind mobs to be the one again.
It's about the galaxy, and engrossing yourself into it. Be part of it... don't try to be above it.

I disagree.

Maybe I am wrong... But Argus is making a fictional content from random elements of game universe.

I have some backstory for my character etc, I enjoy roleplaying a lot, I even found NPC called Max Rockatansky in space that boosted my imagination, but I am really missing a point of such approach in computer game without proper tools.

ohh man... I am playing computer games since I was 6 (and I was 6 in '87)

go install dosbox, download Reunion or Freelancer, you will catch the difference

This seems like me going to the call of duty forums and asking people to explain to me why they enjoy that game and I find it mind numbingly boring.

Different strokes for different folks man, thats all there is. There has never been, nor is there likely to ever be, a game that is universally loved by everyone, and thats ok.

I get it, it is great for pen & paper RPG, or some book, or text game adventure, I can take Blender and make my own 3D system with 3D ships and play them around, or borrow my kids lego's and play it too, but that's not for I am buying games.

I rather asking here about those 2 days of life, to see if I am not losing some content, how do you guys are finding it deep.
The difference though, between table top games like PnP RPGS and Lego compared to Elite is that you ONLY have your imagination to make the pen and paper games/Lego fun. With elite you have the ENTIRE Milky Way galaxy right there for you to play around in. Elite is a sandbox, with stars and planets and black holes, filled with immersive space flight and both major and minor factions that you can help shape. Saying it's the same as the table top activites you mentioned couldn't be further from the truth IMO. It's an entire galaxy, where if you want to visit one point of light thousands of light years away, you can. I can see people saying it's shallow just because their entire goal is "credits" and that's it. Personally, if that was my sole objective, I would've shelved the game long ago. Making a reason for you commander to do certain things is just an easy way to make things interesting. Sure, making credits can get you into a more expensive ship and for some that's all they want. For me though, I'm having a riot (and am quite successful) in my eagle, experiencing the galaxy as I stated above. The game really isn't for everyone (not saying it's not for you personally) and I'm sorry if they feel they've wasted money on something they can't quite get into on every level.

Take the long way home, enjoy the ride and take detours. It's the journey and not the destination that matters most with Elite.

EDIT:mad:Flappers, get outta my head! Haha, I think we're on the same wavelength here.

Thank you for explanation :) I needed such description.

But yes, for me to imagine such content in medium like computer game is rather limitation, as I want to have my imaginated story to be in interaction with universe, and I feel like in cage when I cant do that.

I get now, thank you once again.

+1 for the OP, i tend to agree with this statement and i am enjoying this game to the fullest, Aside from eve online, give me one good space sim that compares to this game? and ppl complain why?

Reading the forums I get the impression I am doing something very very wrong indeed...
I read about the traders making millions of creds per trip...truckers in space...
.
Apologies if posted hereabouts.... It is hard to make massive profits since the "Rare Commodities" have been rationed to each Commander by the Devs. When these rare items were "unlimited" some serious profits were to be made. Especially if you had a BIG hold!! Lists of these rare commodities are out there, along with the locations.
.
A steady "living" as an "Armed Trader" can still be made in the right collection of systems. I found a "tool" in trading that is invaluable in identifying the markets to buy & sell, again apologies if posted elsewhere:

Hope this helps you as much as it does me!

LMAO... I'm recent retired ex-medico....have tried the IV route :p...but found other things intervened:rolleyes:....a catheter fixed one prob  the next was a bigger job......if you get the gist:D

A logical next step. Thought it went without saying though. Haha, all that liquid nutrient has to go somewhere. It would bring a whole new meaning to "plugged in" though.
