Game is too CRUEL

Why add yet another exploit option if there already are some then? Better focus on preventing the existing ones and leave the insurance as it is, it works perfectly fine.

As for punishing. It's a matter of personal taste. If you play long enough to be able to afford the ship that has insurance so high it won't let you take a loan for it, you should really know better. If you don't then you're either lucky, careless or got the money via exploits. In the last 2 cases the game is perfectly correct to issue the highest punishment ;)

There's only one question left, do only fanboys make it to moderator?

First post to the Forums Hello all!!

Just thought I would chime into this

I have only been playing since release but have done some pretty deep research into the game before I came on board. I have chosen to play in Open mode just to keep that edge of excitement in the game, but so far have not really had any problems with other players. One things I have chosen to do for sure is to stay away from the well know systems (Lave, Eranin, ect). I won't say where I have been mainly sticking to but I do run into other players on a regular basis and only been interdicted once by another player in my Type 6, it was pretty easy to get away and maybe the fact I had a load of poop did not give the player a lot of incentive to try hard. But all other NPC interdiction's I submit and fire the after burner out of there if things get a little hairy I fire off chaff and bob and weave a little and quickly back into super cruse. One thing I have learned being a trader is if you max out your engines and keep those shields up you can get out of 90 % of situations.

Cheers and good luck commanders.

You're obviously not reading or just don't understand. Regardless, enjoy the game.
It's going to happen to you and for sure, you'll be keeping it to yourself. No whining, just a decision not to play.

I understand that you need to take a break because YOU made a mistake, because YOU couldn't follow simple rules.
It's not the game, it's not FD, it's not a bug. A little common sense and precaution and 90% of the threads in this forum would be obsolete.

They should have a squad of space lawyers waiting in the docking bay who prevent you from taking off without sufficient insurance unless you sign a waiver.

Yes, the very first time you take off in a Sidewinder it will toss up a huge legal document that you must sign stating if you die with 100cr it is your fault.

As long as you have less than the insurance amount it will keep popping up before you can launch.

There should be a section in the news similar to the Highest Bounties, except for Highest Uninsured Losses. Everyone in the game should know the names of who signed the waiver and then went out and lost it all.

The whole Insurance system is totally stupid and I would like to see the whole scheme redone.
If this mechanism can allow you to lose everything you had in one piece of misfortune then the game has lost it's objectivitey.
The original games never had this kind of gameplay and if it's driving players away usually with a glut of smarmy comments blaming a player, then this game really is flawed along with the audience it seems to draw.

To the OP, bad luck you gambled and lost....but no sympathy from me.
Sounds as though you are level headed and comfortable in RL, so relax with a fine Brandy as you reflect......and when you return you will have experience.....that is Priceless.

They should add that to the pre flight check :D

Ive read all the responces and I am gobsmacked.

Just because you didnt have the insurance Gitface you blew it and it was your fault. I cant find anything that is the fault of the game design at all. What am I missing?

Taking a gamble and loseing is risk . Risk is just that. Being allowed to save your progress is just laughable . You can already do that by having enough insurance in the first place.

The only thing Im sorry about is that Gitface seems a good enough guy and he is anoyed at his own idiocy. The game brings out the bad in people. Try EVE and do the same thing . No insurance no fallback no save no chance .

I wish I could feel sorry for you mate but you just blew it , totaly your fault and completely avoidable.

Just got my Type 7. Filled with cargo and I get interdicted for the first time on my trade route, EVER! Master Viper, destroys my modules, I'm stuck and ******. Yes I had shields.

Not enough credits for insurance.

You can find sympathy in the dictionary. It's between stupid and unintelligent.

I know, I know - I'm being CRUEL.

Maybe my own fault but still... too painful. Leaving the game.

Why a I reminded of this?

Well, this game is fiction. There is just a little physical correctness in it. E.G. time is everywhere the same. But nevermind, I'm pretty sure that it is possible to prevent getting back to zero loosing all the progress you made.

Yes; keep enough money in the bank for insurance.

You pay insurance before disasters happen, not after. I don't like the current mechanics, but that's a personal opinion. As I wrote before, I'd like to choose for an insurance at a star port, pay the fees, and in case of disaster brought back to that star port + money to buy/equip the ship I insured for the last time. Everybody happy.

This game is not for you. You obviously found it too difficult to think first and have the money to replace your ship before you left the station.

If they changed this just because you were too thick headed, then I would be the one quitting the game.

Maybe another option FDev can add to the ever growing options list is for your credits to be displayed with insurance excess already removed (a "Show spendable credits" option). It's not hard to keep an eye on it, but it can be a bit inconvenient when outfitting your ship to leave the outfitting screen to check your excess.

Or maybe part of what it takes to be Elite is the ability to manage your finances!

+1 I was just thinking of this today. I have a spending problem and I would really like to have a separate money account for my insurance. Something that I can't see and can't touch lol. I have yet to bump into a shiny new module that I haven't wanted to buy.....so this would help out big time.

Sucks, but if you play since beta and still didn't learn that insurance is way more important than the ship itself, ...well I guess now you've had a lesson you won't soon forget.

I find it far more ironic that these people paint such a grim picture of a huge grind that they couldn't possibly face again, but they were all willing to risk the fruits of said unthinkable grind for the sake of a few more credits in the bank for insurance?

/facepalm

Said grind is too traumatic to face in this game, but you can bet your last credit they'll be playing another game where the grind is just as huge, and be happy doing so.

Until they faceplant again and ragequit that one too.

yesterday i lost a ship without insurance. and they gave me credit! they took 10% of any income until repayed

life is good ))
