Rambling engaged...
I like the game that Frontier made. I'm happy it isn't more like EVE but I also despise most humans so that makes me the odd one out.
IMO, Elite Dangerous provides all the things I like in a space game and NONE of the meatbag politics, metagaming, showboasting and male fifth appendage waving
I think I might be a minority in that regard, oh well.
You should never approach a game as some version of another. Why would you want to play a watered down derivative? Elite Dangerous stays true to its original principles (mostly

) and I like it that way.
Perhaps, and wisely, EVE will have a mode similar to Elite...but whatever they implement will likely be derivative of what Frontier has made...soo,meh.
More than anything though, and I think this has been expressed in this thread..the E: D universe needs a bit more life in populated space. Core systems still seem desolate around stations and planets look uninhabited and untouched by human industry. Random skirmishes should be a bit bigger...maybe if the station didn't explode ppl on their way in but instead the security forces engage in a dogfight that the NPC/player tries to escape (entering the station would see the guns open up though

). Shuttle traffic and station to planet deliveries on non-jump capable barges would be a nice sight...maybe even get in on some of that action with the expansion to planet landings....idk, just more stuff...more lipstick (i know, superficial, but it needs a dash of something that is missing, IMO).
