wow bug destroyed my type 7!

'Safe' is between 1000km and about 300km ... anywhere outside that is unsafe, within 300km and you're looking at coming out inside the station.

"safe disengage" should mean its safe. i hit it as early as possible. like i always do because there is no reason or difference between waiting till the blue bar slides over to the middle or more left as i noticed.
i have never had it drop me off any closer than the default distance.

edit: and believe me being a trader i would of done it if it actually made a difference in time.

Then create a ticket and have done with it.

something just occurred to me, when you jump in and you target the station you are usually about 10km from it. that marker seems to be placed in the center of the docking port, the shortest end from the actual entrance. could it be that the game just drops you the distance from that marker in respect to your approach vector? the station entrance always faces the orbiting planet so if you approach a long station from the outside > =={} O (ship = > station = =={} and planet =O) it drops you the 8-10 km out of that marker ip puts you in the tail structure of the station that stretches outward that would explain the spawing inside the structure and close calls approaching from that vector. so generally the =={} < O approach is probably safest for the time being until something can be developed about it about it.

but of course, if you rather snipe at each other then trying to figure out the issue, i got popcorn until a moderator shows up ;)

Used to get this all the time in beta until I read that you should drop out at 999miles or as close to. Never had the problem before.
Do this and you will always drop out 9km from the station.

You were pushing your luck dropping out so close and you paid for it. Kinda like racing into Tesco carpark and suddenly meeting an old lady reversing, it will bite back one day.

nope,
not at all when i was in beta and even gamma i tryed doing these things but it never actually made any difference. and i did it in release with my sidewinder.
ever since then i hit it when my dashboard lit up "safe disengage ready"
seriosuly im a trader if i would have thought that doing that would have made a difference i would have but it doesnt

the game just drops you the distance from that marker in respect to your approach vector? the station entrance always faces the orbiting planet so if you approach a long station from the outside > =={} O (ship = > station = =={} and planet =O) it drops you the 8-10 km out of that marker ip puts you in the tail structure of the station

That's exactly how it works :)

Oooh, popcorn ... I love popcorn, is it salted or sugared?

this i do know, but i never actually try and do it from the front since i always try and avoid the gravity pull from the planets which really slow down the ship and adds an extra min to the trip.
i just go around.

take your pick, we got a wide variety in the pantry :) even buttered and some with cheese powder my wife likes :) (personally, i go for kettle corm, slightly sweetened)

personally i don't fly dirty (learned that lesson the hard way back in beta [https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=85141 is the whole story of my hubris]) however, my current ship has a re-buy option of 4 million+ and i often have cargo in the hold around that value. i do currently fly un-shielded to maximize my profit and 1-2% hull-damage from setting down hard costs more then some ships new so talk about being on the edge. the reason for flying this way is that the next module i am aiming for (A class power-plant) needs 34 mil credits on hand, that's accounting for my current B class as trade-in. i found flying around or over the station toward the planet and turning does not seem to slow you down all that much and just adds a few extra seconds to the trip, especially when you use the 75% throttle.

Oooh, never tried cheese powdered, that sounds pretty cool (heads to t'internet to search for cheese powder)

Edit: OMG, sour-cream powder too (see related items) http://www.amazon.com/Cheddar-Cheese-Powder-1-lb/dp/B00016LZT8 .. I dread to think what the shipping to the UK will be though!

Report it as a bug. See if they can do something for you.

i did but it wont be for awhile till they look at it since its vacation time for them

but lesson learned. i wont ride dirty again. even though i never had a problem with interdiction or crashing into walls.
just sucks it had to be a bug to teach me that.

but thanks.

Sadly that item can't be shipped to the UK, but there are others on the .co.uk site :D

Glad you realised that it's not really a bug after all :)

EDIT: Admittedly it could be handled better than showing you the inside of the station, but 'riding dirty' definitely should leave you at risk of crashing into the station.

must have been the tail part, always drop out of SC between station and planet to arrive near the letterbox entrance, it's also faster to get into station that way. still it's a bug and should be fixed

wow, yeah i just got to a type 7 after being a beta player. playing for hundreds of hours and you think i wouldnt know the difference between a bug and late disengage? its really hard to do a late disengage.
seriously think before you say stuff.

No, actually, it's quite easy. But if it really is a bug, then filing a ticket is the correct course of action. Whining on the forums just makes you trollbait.
