I'm starting to get a bit worried about the lack of early gameplay footage. With an early 2014 launch date I'd really expected there to be some up to date gameplay stuff.
I can't lose the feeling that the game is still in a very early concept stage.

Actually, I think it's quite natural if some people are a bit worried from a psychological perspective. After all, during the KS we got several videos of the game in action, even though it was in a pretty rough prototype form. Since it got funded we haven't seen anything at all in the form of in-game videos.
I know they got the reveal feature "coming soon™", but I just wish this "soon" could be replaced with "now".

Michael did say we'd see some 'soon'... But then we know his definition of the word 'soon' is somewhat loose...

I am led to believe that DB is a perfectionist which would explain the wait and also why people shouldn't worry.
I thought it was a great question to choose. Yes, it's an awful question, but it expresses a lot of the sentiment you see around the boards and helps silence them. The answer was terrific, with David giving a sensible and almost scolding description of the reality of gaming (as opposed to the hyperbole in the question).

Great video! Although I felt Jero123's question was awful. I mean really. For one, the question itself generalizes pretty much everything ever, and makes it hard for DB to answer, but what is worse, is that it is filled with assumptions! Games more 'casual' then ever before? By who's count? EVE online easily trumps pacman and pong in complexity.
What a waste of a question. Especially since we already know the answer to it. What is the defining attribute of the Elite series? Accessibility. Elite is quite easy to fly, at least until you have to dock. Frontier was exceedingly easy to fly, until your autopilot was destroyed and you started flying 'manual'. The Elite games have always been about accessibility for all, except for having a rather high skill ceiling as you learned more about the game, and realized you are not half as good as you think you are.

Great video otherwise! and excellent art behind Mr. Braben's head! Loved the people boarding the passenger ship.
His answer on this point reassured me a little because hearing it coming from the horses mouth quashes a few concerns I was having. If the head honcho is on the same page were in a good place.
What we haven't seen much of in video diaries since the kickstarter project is new in game footage. Screenshots are cool and all, and the team are doing great work but can't wait to see some game footage.

My main concern though is that the subs insisted on calling Mobius 'No '... Subs got most other names wrong too so you got your wish, sort of, John....
JohnStabler = John Stabile
FanGrim = Fan Graham
Phillip Coutts = Phillip Coops
The only one the subs got right was Flavio!

Actually most of the names were quite close apart from mine where the first vowel a was pronounced with the a as in air rather than the correct vowel sound of a as in apple but since a lot of English speaking people get that wrong, I am used to it.

What if they are not good enough (released to soon)?
FD will think twice before they show anything.
