Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

Covert operations missions seem to be beneficial. especially those that bring in weapons.
Although it is obvious the Devs have been working on broken mission rewards over the holidays (seriously guys, you deserve a lot of praise for this) there are still some broken ones cropping up now and again. This is one such broken mission requiring me to obtain weapons for CSGin the Cavendish Ring station.

These missions usually increase lockdown with a red arrow going up but for some reason this is reducing famine? This can't be right can it?

No, I got the exact same mission just now, it increased both lockdown and civil unrest. It was the of the type where I donate some non-lethals to the cause. Seems to be the ones we really want.

Also:

'Deliver blacknet data' (the 600-1000CR ones): +influence +reputation
'Feeding the fuel of war' - deliver non-letahls for a price: +lockdown

Now this revolutionary needs his din-dins.

Covert help is usually giving them stuff for free right? In my experience giving stuff for free always reduces famine, no idea why, maybe they are eating the guns?

No, it was not stuff for free. Brining in weapons and booze seems to highten tension. I have been bringing in Non-lethal weapons as my basic trading commodity for a while now. It is hard to know if it is having an effect but it certainly is not doing any harm. I am only feeding our stations with these weapons and those missions from the opposing ports that demand weaopns from CSG.

Good man Mic. So now, if everyone can concentrate on these missions for now until we see the next update. If you need to make money then bring in weapons and booze and sell that.

I noticed that if you get one of those "medical officer something or other" missions in Balandin, the rep goes to LfE :(. Perhaps it's tied to them being the original owners of that station? Normal faction missions work without a hitch though, I've delivered multiple non-lethal shipments in my Conda. :)

I'm sure someone has suggested this already. What this group needs to do is take everyone who has PM'd you or you know is willing to help, and move the objective to another system. You are almost certainly being hindered by players actively working against you. Other player groups have already succeeded in basic tests (found on reddit). Keep this thread active, and clandestinely work in another system. That way all the trolly little frackers keep working against you in Lugh while you are carrying out playtests elsewhere.

Just had time for a couple of runs before the kids bed time:

'Deliver blacknet data' (the 600-1000CR ones): +influence +reputation
'Feeding the fuel of war' - deliver non-letahls for a price: +lockdown
'Sticks, Stones and semi-automatics' - deliver non-lethals for a price: +lockdown
'find a Black box' - +lockdown BUT -civil unrest so that is also a no-go

Well, if they're getting guns for free, they can now use the money they would've spent on guns to buy food. ;)

Edit:

Balderdash! While some may be tempted to flit off to greener pastures, I doubt the true followers of Lugh are willing to abandon their home. For them, this is a holy struggle, taking place around a sacred star. The Federation should be the ones who flee for their lives, not those who have suffered so under its yoke!

(OOC - this is a public test, and I'm sure Frontier Developments is getting useful data from it. I for one am enjoying myself immensely, regardless of the outcome. I also like the idea of human competition. It's refreshing to have PvP that doesn't involve pew-pew.)

What's the maximum jump range you need to get to Lugh? I have about 10 and I can find a path to Sol, but not Lugh.

Just bought a Sidewinder in Lugh for checking, with its jump range of 7.56Ly the route planer says it can get to Sol. You should be fine with 10Ly

I tend to use Starchart to plot decent distances - remember to use Settings to get the right jump distance. Now that ED has route planning, I tend to pick points every 30-40LY in Starchart and then route between them in ED.

There are plenty of us here who never stopped! Well done to all who have been involved putting in some real time here. Even when some others had left and for all those who dug their heels in and helped (you know who you all are) refused to give up even when we had hit 37% :) We could not have gotten this far without you!

Yeah, I did head off for a while, enjoyed myself bounty hunting and sharpening my skills a bit further away where I couldn't do any harm. But now I'm back and it is great to see us edging forward once again!

Whoa! Big update in the percentages!

Our current position is as follows:

Crimson State Group 50%
Lugh for Equality 44.2%
Dominion of Lugh 0%
Lugh Defence Force 5%
Silver Natural 0%

We also have Pending state civil war!

-Keep bringing in personal weapons and booze and selling them at Crimson State Group controlled stations.
-Choose Perunario Orbital as the main station to do CSG missions from.
-Fuel the arts of war missions and all military based missions should be the mainstay of missions we do now. We are trying to push civil unrest and Lock-down up in the opposition controlled stations.
- Keep trading th eabove commodities with our own stations.

Here is an observation I have made. These are the results I got from a mission where I was paid to bring in non-lethal weapons. If you look you will see that lockdown has a red up arrow.

Now if you take the opinion that red is bad and blue is good (like on the outfitting screen for spaceships) then this rise in lockdown is bad news.

However, lockdown is either a good thing or it is a bad thing. Which is it? Therefore why have a blue arrow up AND a red arrow up to represent lockdown?

I have two theories on this.

Theory A) Lockdown is your ability to suppress civil disorder and keep the station under control (much like a prison lockdown) I sold weapons to the market therefore they are freely available and might be used against crimson state so they would increase lockdown for the opposition to suppress our civil disorder. In otherwords there is not one sigle lockdown stat. there is lockdown for our guys in the ststion to suppress the enemy and there is also lockdown for them and their ability to lockdown us (the red arrow). The same would go for civil disorder (a blue up arrow would increase our peoples willingness to fight and a red up arrow the enemy's willingness to revolt).

Theory B) The missions are still broken and spitting out mad stuff still. I have seen some funky results today (although it must be said these are much rarer than pre-Christmas).

Thoughts on this welcome...

Doesn't beer reduce civil unrest? Are you sure it helps?

P.S: Your theory for lockdown does make sense... In our experiment in other system the response of the authorities to civil unrest uprising and piracy has been lockdown, and the game description says lockdown is to control a situation spiralling out of control. Hence the controls and checkpoints to impose control on weapons etc. (and the 'seeking goods' points to smuggle weapons etc.

Rising lockdown is good indirectly because it means you are making progress, but you have to overrun their resources and cause enough disruption so lockdown has no effect. Lockdown is the response to civil unrest.

We appear to be at a wobbly stale mate. Whilst influence for other minor factions have decreased, some to zero. Feds vs others look like it staying fairly even. I hope soon we will get some feedback from FD on what all the up and down arrows are about. Maybe a section in the manual would be a nice thing to see.
Once I am sure I am actually helping the cause, I'll be doing missions until they're out :)

What the hell is going on with the servers tonight? One minute cargo is there, next its not. then it is back again. Next minute I am selling the same cargo twice. Then cargo from missions are stuck in my cargo bay after mission completion. Server disconnects and now 100,000cr has now dissapeared! Has anyone else been getting this?

I only managed to squeeze in an hour or so last night, but I didn't have any issues while playing.

But then again, I haven't had most of the issues people complain about since Gamma began. Including "lack of content," the game being "too grindy and repetitive," and "its too hard to make money."
