General / Off-Topic Then and now Remakes

3d procedural cousins

One of the most nostalgia producing, and hardest games I played as a kid was 'The Sentinal'. One of the earliest games to do the same as Elite with 3d and procedural generation of the environment. I heard there was a modern remake but never tried it.

I just downloaded Ultima for the Ipad as I loved the original.

The version they did now though is so different in core game play of the original. I feel it has lost its soul and still prefer the original. The new game does look better though and is free, but that is not enough.

Lords of Midnight.

The Lords of Midnight have been remade and its available on Android/Ios/ Balckberry and Windows.

I know the developer (Chris Wild) was working with Mike Singleton on an update to LOM when Mike passed away from cancer.

I know that Doomdark's Revenge is in production but I don't know if the mythical 'Eye of the Moon' game was ever discussed.

After Elite; Lords of Midnight and Doomdark's revenge were my favorite games on the old speccy and I spent many a happy hour between all three of them.

I remember the original. I didn't know there is a remake though.

Although you can play them on your phone/tablet/pc etc via ScummVM I used to really enjoy the Lucasarts point and click adventure games like Sam and Max, Indiana Jones and not forgetting Day of the Tentacle.

I cant believe they didn't re-make The Fate Of Atlantis yet, for me, that was just as good as the Monkey Island games.

They were all well made with great story lines and sense of humour, Day of the Tentacle should be remade I'd love to see a updated version of that.

I've got a copy of it for PS1... Bought it for 10p at a car boot sale a year or so ago, and keep meaning to play it through an emulator, but never get round to it. The soundtrack is by John Carpenter, I seem to remember, which is what really piqued my interest.

Yes, Chris Wild was working on Lords Of Midnight before turning (hopefully) his attention over to the Midwinter series. :)

I am keeping a close eye on the new Lords of Midnight website for signs of a revamped Doomdark's Revenge.

Already bought the 'new' Lords of Midnight game and its fantastic - true to the original but improved all the shortcomings as well. Of all my Spectrum games these two games are the only ones I want to replay today, they were superb games and I only stopped playing them because I went off to Polytechnic and got interested in other things like food fights, visiting the girls dorm, and 'Special K' cider drinking nights.

It's great that I can now play LoM again and I might actually get to finishing it (so far Morkin is still alive!).

Edit: 26 game days later and I have won the game - first play through for 30 years and I destroyed the Ice Crown. Now I will have to go back and try to win by conquest alone!
