Hardware & Technical Multiscreen

Lower your desk, then you will be able to get a larger monitor in.

By square I am assuming you mean 4:3!

Ha! I wish I could lower the desk but alas I cannot. Yes 4:3 ratio is what we have. Its a nice monitor so I don't want to lose it. Was considering maybe having a widescreen as new main monitor and old monitor along side for maybe a split view?

would love having 3 27" benq monitors (have 2 atm) they are very afordable so i might get a third one when we are getting closer to release date, only problem i might have a problem are the desk :)

This would be my ideal setup, which I knocked together with sketchup (I used mainly existing models that looked roughly correct).

I have no idea what the possibilities for E:D will be, so this is just an imagination.

Three mainscreen monitors (maybe a fourth for an overhead view?)
Central scanner/instrument display.
Configurable touchscreen panel, for those important controls.
Keyboard, with lit keys, on a floating pivot.
Flightstick (I couldn't find a proper sketchup model)
Throttle
Foot pedals (rudder)
A comfy chair (the chair in the picture is not a comfy chair!)

There is no game-pad.

I'd love a USB touch screen panel in my desk to use, just under the centre monitor, and angled towards me so I can use it as well as my keyboard/mouse/HOTAS.

I just want loads of buttons like the space shuttle!! I'm 39 going on 12!

Brian :)

You can connect monitor to either the DVI or the HDMI output. I have wondered whether I can connect monitors to each and get different out put on each.

You can, I have this setup at home.
I have my TV plugged into the HDMI port which I use as my main screen and I have a monitor plugged into the DVI-D port.

you then extend your desktop onto the second screen so that you now have 2 screens that you can do different things on (e.g. watch a movie on one and surf the internets on another)

Only thing to be aware of is that if you're playing a game and you move your mouse to the second screen and click it will alt tab out of the game.
Some games that use the mouse reaching the edge of the screen may also have issues.

You can get around this though in certain games by playing in full screen windowed mode. (i.e. the game is running in a window but the window is sized to match the size of your screen. Try pressing Alt+Enter/Return in game as that quite often changes between full screen (not to be confused with full screen windowed mode) and windowed mode (which you can then make full screen (not to be confused with full screen mode :) ) )

Has there been any mention of support of ultra wide monitors (2560 x 1080).

Been thinking of getting one of these rather than going for a multi-monitor setup.

Came across this company earlier today that provide free and licences software that basically manages multi-monitor setups - wallpapers, screensavers and the like. Has a ton of free images too that can be used for multiscreen setups. From what I can see, the free version is pretty good. For €25, the pro version does things like carry across taskbars and the like:

Might be usual for others.
p.s I'm not on commission!

I love the top two comments on that video!!

I can imagine a massive flexible screen about 2.5x1m that I can roll away when not on my PC, and as its a flexible screen I can wrap it round and completely immerse myself in the universe of Elite Dangerous!!
