Roadmap after release

Roadmaps have a tendency to bite developers in the backside. Best just to know what they plan on, and what's currently in the works.

It doesn't need to be anything formal. I just wish there was more communication.

The recent changes have not been good.

Shield cells, and NPCs flying without shields have turned combat really weird. Suddenly it's an old school MMO where NPCs are there to be farmed.

I would like to see more information from the development team on what they are currently work on, short term road map.

My top priority road map is :

• Friendly fire issue
• Connectivity issues
• Some missions still broken
• Please finish/correct/improve the localisations (French and German) and translate all Galnet !
• Add NPC (Crew, Enrollment, Be able to ask an NPC to retrieve your ship at a location and bring it to you (with delay and risks)
• Wings
• More variety of space station/environment like underconstruction space station, damaged space station, asteroid station...
• Visible damages
• FPS modes (make it gradually, walk around your ships, then later, the pad, then later the station ...)
• Landing Side (moons first and then planets)
• Boarding

After the fiasco with Offline? You really think that they are going to go: 'Hey, here's a good idea... let's publish a roadmap!" *passes out the snorkels*

Actually the offline fiasco would have been largely avoided with a road map. If they communicated it was not a grantees feature and not a priority item it's loss would not have been so starling. These fiasco happen BECAUSE they are not communicating their goals and intentions properly. So if they want better public relations they should be up front and honest with us and put their cards on the table, or at least give us some idea of the cards they are holding and what they are hoping they will draw

For me the biggest priorities are instancing and the ability to follow FSD wakes out of supercruise. These two issues really hamper multiplayer gameplay.

On a brighter note, I would love to see further development of the power base metagame of star systems developed even further going into the future as I believe it is where the games true strength lies. Additions to Galnet explaining what is happening politically on the ground in systems undergoing changes would really go a long way for players to be able to read how systems are changing.

Looking forward to hearing more but will simply keep enjoying what's there in the meantime.

I don't blame FD for not laying out their plans in detail as there seem to be a vocal minority who think they should be consulted for each and every decision and will castigate anything which doesn't fit with their vision for the game. The open, straightforward way FD have communicated with us since inception has been a breath of fresh air in comparison to the marketing-lead baloney we get from mainstream studios/publishers. They may have gone a bit quiet recently but I'm sure now that the holidays are over we'll start getting regular news flashes again.

Exactly. The dynamically changing galaxy is the key to the game's long term appeal.

Keep moving to stay big. Without periodic additions and fixes, whatever good press the game managed to gather will become quite the opposite in short order.
Which is exactly what they have said many times that they will do. That just doesn't necessarily mean they will be spilling all their beans on what's to come months before. ;)

Totally agree. If this "meta" faction system struggle could be enhanced offering some kind of obvious and direct motivation for players to side on (other than pure role playing or testing) then actual player territorial gameplay via proxy of factions could take place. That d be awesome.

Elite has incredible potential. Do not waste this opportunity

Good to see Michael responded and that in a few weeks time they will reveal more.

I do hope whilst they are at it they also tune the game to be a little harder ... give the game some teeth :)

I do hope whilst they are at it they also tune the game to be a little harder ... just under 3 weeks have passed and there are 2 Elites already :(

Sorry to use your post as an example, but it's just such a perfect demonstration of how careful developers have to be when posting.

What Michael said can be interpreted in 2 ways

1. Either to refer to the content that will be coming over the next few weeks
2. Or to refer to announcing over the next few weeks content that will come later.

My instant assumption was version 1, you assumed version 2.

Others would then quote you or me, and the message would get just that little bit more garbled and so on, till in a week we could have

"Micheal promised that we will have a firm roadmap published for the next 3 months development"

I agree that a roadmap with dates and details would not be a good idea.

Although I would like to see a list of what is worked on/planned and in what order.

And then, every time there's an update, put this

in the launcher!
Problem solved....

I understand that there was Christmas and the New Year, I understand you need to rest after your hard work (and thanks for that).
But I do not understand your silence, I do not understand why before Christmas were not put new ships, as was promised.
I do not understand why there are still bugs still annoying, and other things that you do not understand (eg reputation)
I do not understand why every time I explore towards the center of the galaxy I returns the error CONNECTION to the server, it seems that your servers are thirty years ago.
The game I like, I like so much, not otherwise ruin the dream of David Barben could definitely break.

Sorry for my bad english.
Bye
