I just find strange that Register concentrates on issues (which are mostly valid, just blown out of proportion imho), and rarely mentions anything good about the game. I know that media earns clicks by bad news.

The Register is a Sci/Tech news site. Go to any news site and the vast majority of it is "bad" news - nature of the beast. If something works as intended, no complaints, etc, then there's little to report.

The Register is also the online equivalent of a tabloid newspaper. Bad and/or contentious news gets them clicks, so it's no surprise they only report the bad things about ED. It's interesting seeing the comments though: when the offline mode was removed, comments were almost universally negative (and those negative comments got a lot of upvotes, positive ones got downvotes). Since the game proper actually landed, and El Reg's negative slant toward the game becomes more obvious, the number of positive comments are increasing, and upvotes are tending more toward the positive comments.

That's fine, ED is not for everyone and I have absolutely no problem with anyone not liking the same game as me, but given your distaste for the game, why are you still playing it? If you are not still playing it, why visit a forum set up by the game developers to post repeatedly about how you don't like the game? Why not go and do something else? I don't care for Candy Crush Saga, so I don't play it and I don't go on Kings forums and tell everyone how bad CCS is.

Yeah, everyone's a troll....I'm so vexed by your words. Do I agree with the scores? No, but I can certainly respect a review that's objective, regardless of my opinion. See, I've played the game, alot. That's how I know they are full of it. And if you've played the game, you know deep down as well. A little honesty is what all of us should require, weather we agree with the final score or not. But apparently, alot of us here only care about the end score, which is sad.

It's bizarre, not only do they focus on the negative events, they seem to take unrelated issues and weave them into a fabricated story which ends up a twisted version of what actually happened. Never realised that about elReg until the started doing the ED stuff.

I guees it depends on who they ask in their research for the story, there are some pretty biased / distorted and plainly untrue versions on these very forums.
Everyone has their own perspective / axe to grind

I actually emailed them with corrections on some of the more factually inaccurate parts, but nothing has been changed and I've received no response :(

Your implication being that any positive review (or perhaps more accurately; any review which doesn't express your specific feelings about the game) isn't objective or honest? Seriously?

Sorry - but I've been playing this game pretty exclusively since I got beta access and still rate it at a 7-8, even with its shortcomings. Is my opinion more valid than yours? Obviously not. So why is your opinion more valid than those of professional reviewers (who presumably play a wider variety of games than either of us)?

In my opinion the reviews are, by and large, fair. The 9's are a but over the top, I'd score 7, maybe 8 on a good day.
.
So we disagree about the quality of a video game, not a biggy, maybe we'll agree about our favourite films (Raiders of the lost Ark, Aliens and, for some reason, The long kiss goodnight btw).

I am puzzled why you would play a game you rate as zero?
