From the RPS review:
UI that pushes you to second-screen, immersion-breaking research at every turn, and cargo spaces for starter or low-budget ships are so small that it takes forever to make decent money. PvP barely works and meeting up with friends is next to impossible
UI example - separate key bindings for left / right tabbing, in conjunction with cursor keys! This is demented. It's taking liberties with our keyboards, brains and common sense.
To navigate around the console screens in my ship, i have to stop and actively think as to whether i'm trying to move left / right through menu items, or menus themselves. Why not just allow use of cursor keys (or whatever keys are bound for UI navigation) for menu items AND menus? Or why not assign the 'Tab' key for 'tabbing', and shift+Tab for backtabbing, at the very least? If the UI designers can't follow common sense then at least observe standard conventions.
Cargo - we had what, 80 tonnes, plus a cheap 20 tonne extension easily attainable in Elite 1. Here in ED we have 4t for a sidey and 2t for a freagle if you were lucky enough to get one. Ouch! Special requisitioning missions from the BBS mitigate this somewhat, if you're lucky enough to be offered one, and even luckier in being able to find the items before giving up in exasperation.
PVP - don't get me started; got flamed so hard over this in the last few days it stings when i get wet. Suffice to say, the division of flight modes between normal space and supercruise, coupled with the necessity of an interdiction module that isn't a standard default fitment, effectively insulates new profiles from even experiencing PVP. Some kind of "Survival Mode", like a cross between
Demolition Derby and
Jumpgate, to augment the main game proper, might alleviate this.. Some kind of gladiatorial arena as a side-game.. Oolite has a mod offering something akin to this, high-stakes jousts against champion NPC's.
Gotta say though i find too many of the reviews overly-fawning & saccharine puff pieces ATM..
