We've kept this week's Drabble entries open for one more week as the holidays have taken their toll on most of us. So let's see how many more we can get in before next Thursday, 8 January at 10pm GMT.

Drabbles are 100 words and you can check your number of words here: www.wordcounter.net

A couple of points of order. With the last contest's vote it's worse than you thought. Two drabblists couldn't be asked to vote. I know because I voted and didn't write one last week. As for the 'upwith' , for reasons best known to the forum systems lot's of spaces between words got omitted when I copy/pasted from Open Office, I tried fixing it manually but must have missed that one.

Great to see such a polished live performance :) , and I'm bound to win now after such a fine reading enhanced by Cats in Space!
^^
= =

One-Eyed SpaceCat! How can our Drabbles compete against a SpaceCat!?

It's a winning format Psykokow. It's close to the way I've been using your podcasts anyway. I'd always looked at the text whilst listening to them being read out. I'm sure the further away from Hogmanay you are, the better the readings will get :)

Tiredness can kill - A drabble by Ian Honcharenko

The yellow Hauler "Peckham's Mogul" decelerated out of super-cruise, a few kilometres outside Lave station.
Onboard, Glen rubbed his eyes as he nosed the Mogul slowly towards the letterbox, exhausted from running the Lave to Achenar trade route for the past nine hours ceaselessly without a break.
As he entered the letterbox he smiled tiredly to himself, only two more runs and his dreams of Cobra ownership would be achieved.
The buffeting of a laser blast from the station snapped him from his reverie. In his tiredness induced stupor, he’d forgotten to request docking clearance.
The bulkheads began to fracture.

Only 8 so far! Ok people, y'all are back to work and that means goofing off! So instead of getting depressed over what's going on in the General forum, let's get a bit more writing done!

We've kept last week's Drabble entries open for one more week as the holidays have taken their toll on most of us. So let's see how many more we can get in before next Thursday, 8 January at 10pm GMT.

Drabbles are 100 words and you can check your number of words here: www.wordcounter.net

Fortified

The two figures eyed each other cautiously, their breath peppering the air with steam trails. The holding cell offered little in the ways of comfort.
‘Ow long did the Imps give ya?’
’10 years slavery, for theft’
‘Geez, what did you take?’
‘My supervisors wife.. he was not happy, You?’
’15 years slavery for delivering 15 tonnes of Lavian Brandy for Senator Wagar’s Emporer day Celebration party’
‘Wow that’s harsh. So it’s illegal in Prism then?’
‘No not at all, just when customs opened my hold door they caught me urinating in the canisters’
’15 years!!! For a sly pee?’

And it looks like we're back with the sly puns too!

We're at 9! Comon... you people should be back from vacations by now! Call your friends! Call our past Drabblers! Tell them that writing about your in-game stories is much more fun than playing them! It's true! (At least for about 100 words, and then it's back to Elite: Dangerous for me!)

And..... as another day here in blighty draws to a close we still appear to be on 9 drabbles!

So it's another wake up call to all you sleepy folk out there, put the chocolates down, finish that last glass of port and come up with a drabble of exactly 100 words whether you be a words-worth or not. The only other rules are that it must be set in the universe of Elite (loosely, tentatively even is fine). Your 100 words do not include the title, which helps you set the scene of your story.

It's easy to type 100 words, it's harder to have them make perfect sense, but it's great fun when you see your finished masterpiece completed. And who knows, you may even be lucky enough that it gets read out on the new livestream "whheeeeeeeeee".

Nice Psykokow, now I wonder if anyone will drop in a funny based on Slopey's Market Trading Tool

Hi Guys and girls, sorry been a bit lax on updating the index lately...

Just added the Christmas poll to the list, have I missed any?

The Weird Dream of Frank the Undead

Frank, weary after a day of doing whatever he does, settled into his nest behind the bar. Quaffing his usual nightcap, he failed to register an additional frisson which momentarily intrigued his taste bud.

The addition: a modified baculovirus. State of the art. Deadly.

However, a diet consisting largely of poteen-strength Janxx, had rendered his digestive tract so inhospitable that the poison was rendered harmless, to Frank at least, by his broiling digestive broth.

Frank awoke confused; in front of an open incinerator? Drowsy memories of him coughing; a startled yelp; bacon???

“Helluva dream” he thought, heading bar-wards for breakfast.

One journey too far

The overworked hauler pilot tried to keep awake. The stims no longer worked, but he had to quickly pay off his remaining gambling debt.

The hauler was a battered wreck. Too many interdictions and no time for repairs.

He was oblivious to the fact that soon death would pay him a visit.

Fail to repay the debt, they would kill him.

Make a mistake in landing, the station would kill him.

But his death was closer than he realised.

His trusty ship was his coffin.

The ship exited the station, the battered hull groaned.

The crack expelling the air grew.

Just added the Christmas poll to the list, have I missed any?

Christmas was the last themed poll. The next topic is "Sleepy", but because we only had 5 entrants last week, we rolled it over another week.

-----

And we have 2 more entries for a total of eleven (11) now! Great job, and glad to see MrMogadon and azdour made it through the holidays (in some fashion or another)!

I would possibly be able to get the live show done tomorrow, or Friday night... which ever suits people....

Anyone wanting to read some drabbles that has access to team speak, let me know..

Im also hoping in future eps to get the writers to send us drabbles and video performances!! @D

MrMogadon has certainly got my vote. He's picked a particularly handsome protagonist for his story :)

Do you mean Baculovirus? ;)

He's got an infectious personality I hear. Always turning up at parties when least expected and getting outburst from those in contact with him. The other guy... a bar drunk has such an enormous bar tab running that Zaonce bank are close to foreclosing on the entire space station :)

That whole bank closure threat thing weren't nothing to do with no bar tab. Completely different reason.

Garthyre don't run the bar like it was a business. More of a hobby for her. Don't know where she got all that money to subsidise the clientele like what she does.
