Thanks for all your good thoughts for my father.

He enjoyed christmas (who wouldn't, being waited on hand and 'foot' :))

It's nothing serious - swollen and bruised - but too painful to stand/walk on for a couple of days.

I'm back home and back at work, so service as normal from now on !

Great drabbles so far! Frank, you've definitely got my vote this week. Wow.

Ian, I'm glad you father enjoyed Christmas and is getting better. I twisted my foot playing frisbee one afternoon and it got so swollen, I thought I'd fractured a bone, so I made my way to the ER for an XRay. It wasn't, and that was the last time I ever played frisbee in flip-flops/sandals! It took almost 3 weeks before going back to normal. So I "feel his pain"!

This week's theme:
SLEEPY

If we have more than 6 entries in by Thursday, 1 January 2015 at 10pm GMT, then I'll set up the poll. If not, we'll carry the entries on to the following week. Seems quite a few of our drabblers are pretty sleepy with the holidays, food, booze, parties, and Elite: Dangerous!

Drabbles are 100 words and you can check your number of words here: www.wordcounter.net

I'd say the current state of play is more like 3 and a half. I've got the basic idea, it just needs writing and editing. In the mean time I'm using the opportunity to play the game. I'm pretty confident that I'll hit the deadline.

Pilot fatigue

Alarms are blaring and there's the awful sound of metal scraping on metal. My heart races as I try to grasp what happened. Last thing I remember I was lining upwith the entrance.

Where am I?

Back wall of the station. Okay and my ship? No damage and I still have docking permission for pad 4. Let's get landed.

I must have dropped off during docking. I was lucky, it could have been much worse.

I was already feeling sleepy when I decided to take 'just one more trade run'. Big mistake. Now I really should get some sleep.

The morning after...

Sleepy woke, his head bumping the controls caused the main drill to kick loudly into action. “Ouch, my head… shut that off!” rumbled Grumpy.

“Achoo! Where’s the painkillers?” sniffled Sneezy.

“I think you’ll need to look in Dopey’s private collection” replied Doc peering through bloodshot eyes, “I can’t see straight enough to reach the medical bay”.

The mining crew of “The Heigh-Ho” had once again partied hard to celebrate Empire day. The drinking games had of course been Happy’s idea and soon they’d all know if Bashful regretted freely giving her affections as she stirred half-naked, arms wrapped around Dopey.

Talk about being sleepy.... I'm still recovering from last night and took a nap. It's now 4:30pm Central time, and 30 minutes after the "cutoff" for Drabbles.

We're only at 5 drabbles so far (and I was going to write on this afternoon before passing out), so we're going to roll the topic over for one more week and allow more people to enter.

So remember, the Topic this week is SLEEPY and your job is the write a Drabble: a 100 word story, based in the Elite: Dangerous era. Stories should be kept at least fairly clean so that little ones could read and enjoy them too. (Basic forum rules apply.)

If you need help making sure you've got 100 words, you can use www.wordcounter.net

Maybe its the topic that is the cause of the dearth of entries?

"I'll just sit down here and think about my drabble entry for this week. What was the subject? Oh. Sleepy, hmmm sleepy........sleepy.....zzzzz".

Glad to hear it's being rolled over - got back home yesterday evening to complete my drabblings only to find we had no power.

Thankfully, we have a gas stove, so at least we could have a hot meal of something before an early night

WHAT ROLL OVER?

NOOOOO I was/AM going to do a live Reading tonight............. Oh well changes it from a closed week to Get your entries in!!!

http://www.twitch.tv/psykokow Will try not to clash with Kate Russells twitch or Kerrashes. but frankly its a test anyway... so you can catch it on youtube afterwards...

wish me luck

I'd love to tune in, but there's a strong chance I'll be having a family dinner this evening which will be a couple of hours, involve a New Year steak pie and several glasses of good red wine :) If so I'll definitely watch on youtube to catch up. We've missed you 'Kow. If you struggle to find time between Kate and Kerrash perhaps you should just crash Kerrashlanding and read them over the comms :D

And I'm back in the game after surviving the festivities and making it back into the office in one piece.
Apologies for missing the topic setting, but as I missed the voting too it would have been Erik's win alone so hopefully no harm done.

Seven Dwarf Stars

Ice laced the glass of the cockpit as the ship settled down to sleep. Outside an icefield glowed a ruddy red, the sole light output of the nearby dwarf star. Seven of the small stars in a row, none of them scoopable. That salvaged nav data had turned out to be a real poisoned apple.

Liz White powered down the last of the non vital systems, leaving only a small trickle to the distress beacon and the ancient stardreamer system. "Thank Terra grandpa didn't have this ripped out decades ago. Here goes nothing."

She lay back as her eyelids drooped.

'Kow, you didn't list what time you'd be on. Remember, us peeps on the other side of the pond have to do complex math to figure out when to take that break from work. ;)

Splendour, you'd have voted for mine? Thank you! :D

I didn't want to say this before (and jinx something), but last week's drabble was hastily put together in about 4 minutes time. I've already spend more time than that on this week's!

So I'm back to writing that drabble 'o mine! See if I can get a twist in my story within 100 words.

I was testing tonight to see how well it could go, or HOW bad... I was happy with it so far..

its uploading to youtube
I will export the audio too :D

Not bad. Ian's readings were on the quiet side.

And you never told us what you were drinking!

Ok... my Drabble is on it's way....

Time Out

The Orca settled onto it's landing pad on Lave's surface. The small spaceport just off the islands had been picked out by the couple and Kalran let them know he'd be moving on to a bigger spaceport on the surface.

"Cheers then, mate," said Seamus who handed out three glasses of Janx.

They drank it down and Rose caught Kalran as he began to slump. She took him to his cabin and put him in bed.

"We've got 24 hours before he comes to. Grab the weapons and lock down the ship. I'll pay the dockmaster and meet you outside."
