Question about release date

Though I have no evidence that ED will be delayed and I will say it is total speculation as to the actual release date.
I still think that the official Launch will be delayed, that's not saying that us backers wont get the game in March/April. Im thinking that after Alpha in early 2014 and beta shortly after, we the backers will be Beta testing the game until September when Elite Dangerous will be released in finest form to the general public.

They already said a few times they are on schedule. There is currently no delay at all. I understand why some think there maybe a delay, but please unless Frontier announces one lets stop the theories of a delay for the anniversary or such.

6 months more of development without an income stream is not a healthy way to run a business to make a date that costs them a lot of money and some fans to be upset over an artificial delay. I don't think those thinking it may be delayed for that reason understand fully the cost of every salary and benefits for every one involved for a full 1/2 a year. That is a huge cost to any company and for no other reason to please a few fans, while the majority want it as soon as possible.

I do know the tie in to the holidays that could spark sales with the time frame in question, but games are released year round when ready for the exact reason to pay for the development and make a profit. The Kickstarter showed interest in the game, but it was nowhere near enough money to develop the game. This is a business and a I am sure for many a labor of love, but the bottom line means make a profit to keep the dream alive and funded. I think many forget that point and the huge cost involved with any delay unless absolutely need to make the game playable and polished enough for release. Once released and an income stream is established development as we all hope will continue, but that needs to happen as soon as possible so they have the funds needed to continue. Delays cost money a lot of money, we want the company to succeed to do that they need a product on the shelf to sell that works and looks good, the game ready to sell and delayed that costs them money.

lets say FD were to miss the march deadline due to issues, Spring/summer has always been a dead zone to release games, and releasing a unfinished game with the likes of metacritic giving it 70% because it was unfinished and had major bugs would be the kiss of death, games that cant compete with the big boys are released during the summer months. if FD were to miss the Easter release date, a Summer release date would be the Kiss of death.

we all know ED can be a great game but what about all those gamers born during the 90s, most of them have never heard of Elite, and a September Release would guarantee big money compared to releasing it between April/August.

You guys are kidding yourselves. If this game comes out before 2015 we will be lucky. Every game like this blows out at least 18 months from when their release date is.

We have had it said MANY MANY Times already, there are no delays. March 2014 is still Go..

And this in a back drop of people who don't mind any delay... so they lose nothing by saying delays are happening.

So come on, 1 month, 18 month 2 years 50 years... there is no suggestion of such delays other than from the mouth of the rumour mill...

I do not think a September release would be particularly judicious. Because September is back to school, bills to pay, and the money was spent during the holidays in July / August. In my opinion, the ideal output for the Christmas festivities of 2014, would be very interesting in terms of revenue for Frontier. The game could be delivered in September to the backers, followed by a large international advertising campaign in October / November.

Why do people want this game to be released late?

Lets hope March 2014 is the latest the game is released and have some faith in the developers that they can get the game done by then.

I will be disappointed if it is not ready then as I am really excited about ED.

This thread is getting a little out of hand again I think we've pretty much said everything that needs to be said and stated the facts so time to move on I think.

Continual conjecture with ifs and buts are not moving the point forward.
It has clearly been stated that it is all on track. This is what we know to be the case and there is no evidence to suggest otherwise.
