You had the option to sell it back and buy a cheaper ship when you realised that it was costing more than you thought. Consider it a run-in with an unscrupulous used spaceship salesman - the universe doesn't have to be fair.

You asked a question, were given an answer, Pete doesn't want you to find the post for him, it's you that wants the information so use the search.

and this happened to me...when i did so i ended up 5.5 mil poorer and many folks have 15+ day old tickets about this very issue being ignored

i consider it a run in with stupidity...ie the policy kind

and btw in a brick and motor store whatever price is posted is whats paid....printed prices should be correct and honored or the lost replacement ship costs refunded not my fault someone screwed the pooch at price time

added ship discount for founders world... one more reason not to grind money due to this unfair advantage of
founders... np with a special founders world, but giving clear advantages is just not so great... happy I dont
care about the money at all atm otherwise I would have to rage.

Well in fact you are the one in advantage. I don't know the prices for backing the game, but I am sure they paid more than you. And they were in the disadvantage of not knowing if the game would be released. Without them there would be no Elite: Dangerous. So in my opinion they can get even more advantages. Nothing unfair about it.

Nothing to do with your post, just wanted to say how much I appreciate your avatar photo of Talby! I so wanted to be CMDR Pinback but someone (of course) already took it.

Wanted this as my signature, but unfortunately only 500 characters allowed:

I do not like the men on this spaceship. They are uncouth and fail to appreciate my better qualities. I have something of value to contribute to this mission if they would only recognize it. Today over lunch I tried to improve morale and build a sense of camaraderie among the men by holding a humorous, round-robin discussion of the early days of the mission. My overtures were brutally rejected. These men do not want a happy ship. They are deeply sick and try to compensate by making me feel miserable. Last week was my birthday. Nobody even said "happy birthday" to me. Someday this tape will be played and then they'll feel sorry.

i wonder if the comms are meant to stay like they are or they gonna be adjusted, cause right now you can really interact with a friend or anything, just a few words with random people that happen to be near you.

.

You realise that you can get a Founder's World permit too don't you? It's only a 10% discount anyway IIRC. Players who've been playing since Alpha already have a much greater advantage than that in the hundreds of hours of practice they've been able to do.

although 10% are quite much on python and anaconda the more important fact is that you can get the permit anyway.... didnt know that :)

Hope 1.05 will help with the lag in and around lave, too many players now since last update can't even send my mate a msg via txt chat when in those systems. All I'm doing at the moment is trading rares from there down to ross 447, everything's fine once 15ly from those systems.

does that mean we get the money back from the ships in the founders world we bought that didnt get the discount ?

(On the Galaxy map being pretty slow and being limited to a 100LY sphere when calculating routes)
Yes you can. Done it loads of times. You just have to wait a little for it to become available while the nav computer does the calculations. Only takes about 10-20 seconds maybe, maybe less. never timed it.
Well that is completely untrue. 10-20 minutes maybe. I don't know, I haven't got the patience to stare at the galaxy map that long waiting for it to sort itself out.

Five or more minutes is my experience, too. It's much more noticeable when you have a ship with a large jump range, too, as each star has more lines of the "spider web" to work with as the algorithm expands out from its origin. Calculating an economical route is a bit faster than "fastest route", but it's an awful wait - especially if you do it while scooping because you're already at the limit of the 100LY from the last time you sat staring at the map, unable to return to space. Actually, that's another issue with the map - the fact that it's not part of the ship UI and can't work in the background whilst we fly in-system. And the lack of waypoints... why can't I set my own path out to whatever distance I choose?

Got a bit off-topic there, sorry. There are loads of issues with the map (for me, if noone else) but I'm sure they're being discussed elsewhere. Thanks for the update anyway, FD :)

1. How is reputation broken? I managed to make Allied within a few hours with an independent faction, seems to be working just fine for me.
2. True, but not exactly critical gamebreaking issue
3. By the time you can't land at outposts anymore you have 20 million credits or more. Don't you think by then you should be able to tell the outposts from the stations by their names?
4. True, but not exactly critically gamebreaking either
5. See above
6. Seems like a rather major thing, I'd rather get it right in the near future than wrong today.

Yes, these are rather minor fixes. That is probably why the version number was only increased by one two digits behind the decimal point.

Would you rather have no fixes at all?

The REP issues I'm seeing relate to the handing in of missions that say you are friendly or Allied etc yet on the right hand console it only shows you as neutral...

On this I agree with you as regards leaving yourself without insurance and buying power for filling the ship to trade, but 5.7 million covered the insurance at 2.3 million on the base ship. and I would have had enough to trade well around Founders system as well as buying a couple of larger cargo holds. As it was I sold all the cargo holds except one 32 slot one and slowly but very very carefully worked the ship up to full cargo holds without insurance and only original weaponry and modules and now I am comfortable with it. As It has been upgraded well, and is a strong and dependable ship, and is now fully insured.

Had I realised the problem at founders world I could have purchased the ship for the full price anywhere else, although I have benefitted with cheaper modules, still some stuff to go though. My problem that I see in the future is that if and when I PX it for something else I will lose again as my PX price may be based on a discounted price I never received, same as anyone else who bought at full price but has the founders world marker on the ship.

and it is and thats how i lost 5.5mil....and they think thats my problem......wrong they mislabeled and try to sluff off on the customer there mess....sorry bad form

SNIP...

Actually (I'm assuming you're basing your statement about pricing in "bricks and mortar" stores on UK consumer legislation) you'll find that an incorrect price displayed in a shop does not have to be honoured when you take the item to checkout. The price displayed in a shop is what's known as an "invitation to treat" and does not form a contractual obligation for the shop to sell to you at that price, or indeed any obligation for the shop to sell to you at any price. This is also the same for goods in an online store, although it will vary between online stores as to when the contract is actually made.
The fact that a large chain might have a policy to sell at a lower price when they've made a mistake does not mean that they are legally obliged to honour the price on the shelf.

Using a real-world example to justify an in-game mechanic (or argue that an in-game mechanic is broken) doesn't necessarily carry through, especially when the example you use is incorrect.

I'd expect a ticket for a refund on a ship to be treated as a pretty low priority, personally I'd rather attention was focused on fixing bugs than going back and checking whether individual players might have lost some in game currency. But you at least have my sympathy for loosing 5.5m credits because you had the sense to not fly a ship you couldn't afford to equip/insure (albeit sympathy tempered by the fact that I don't have 5.5m credits, let alone the the 55m credits you had to spend to loose the 5.5m ;-) ).

Well its been a sorry update for me.
I lost my heavily upgraded Viper in a fight with an Anaconda and had to rebuy it in Sol, which I successfully did. I then exited the game, noticed that there was an update available, so downloaded it.
A short while later, I re-ntered the game and Boom...i'm back at trevithick with a Sidewinder and no sign of my lovely Viper anywhere.

Support are looking into it now.

Any chance you could force the 'Starport Services' option to be always selected on entering a station. Believe me the minutes of my life lost to accidentally relaunching is killing me. Please just fix it!
