Griefer at Altair, Solo Orbiter station, INSIDE the station griefing...

PDTs fire independent of weapon hardpoints being deployed or retracted.

The only way to protect yourself right now is to disable PDT(s) in the MODULES panel, on right.

And yes, I'm now doing this every time I request docking. Turn on ship lights, disable PDTs, request clearance.

I'll drop this extra step once FD make PDT fire in-station a non-issue for station response.

TBH Ive always though that having an offensive capability on a utility point is a bit of a design anomaly, and design anomalies often lead to unintended consequences.

When you obtain docking clearance your guns have to be stowed.
After obtaining clearance if you un-stow your guns then docking clearance is cancelled and the station can unleash the dogs!

PDT' fire shouldn't count as an attack. There, problem fixed. Also don't punish the 'exploiters', they're the ones who brought yet another bugged game mechanic to light.

That's happens when you let people keep their exploited credits and assets, boredom can be great motivation to test the game limits and find these exploits.

But hey... like they said you can be anything, a bounty hunter, explorer, trader, exploiter, its all your own destiny!

I only hope that this game see's the actions of these youngsters as just trying to have fun, don't ban them. They outsmarted you! Give them kudos for that, but don't ban players like this because if you do you will have nobody else left to find the loopholes of your game.

Maybe it's how some peoples brains are wired but I have thought about `a station blind spot` where I might wreak havoc :)
Like you say it's a game and about having fun. Picking on people by raising a ticket or naming and shaming is worse IMHO.
If someone exploits `in game` then the solution should also be `in game`.

Of course he is, this behavior is precise definition of griefing. However, I never blame players for using exploits, I blame developers for leaving them in the game.

I'm sorry, I can't understand you, your horse is too high.

Blizzard wasn't like that, they banned my entire guild. Read my earlier post

I was only talking about forum policies, not in game.. but.....
Good for them! Taking out some of the most toxic griefers for good, like you and your merry band, definitely kudos to Blizzard there. Too bad they sold out.

...but with everyones weapons stowed the PDTs wont get triggered.

I can't say I agree and I think that should fall under the same umbrella. Why would the station allow you to continue docking once they've confirmed you're a wanted criminal? That, or you'd figure they'd have a SWAT team waiting to drag you out of your ship once you do set down. Rather you get in undetected, you go about your business and the authorities are none the wiser.

Your opinion is fair enough. So what is your solution, then, for having a 5 million credit bounty in all Federation space with the intention of having a similar number in both Empire and Alliance? Simply never dock at 80% of the stations in the galaxy? What about smuggling?

Avoiding scans is easily done, but even a seasoned and experienced smuggler like myself sometimes gets scanned for one reason or another. For that 1 in 100 chance occurance, I would like to have something to fall back on to give me at least a chance to survive if I'm fast enough in my reactions.

Please don't misunderstand what I'm saying. Fix it, obviously, and fix it fast. But don't cancel my docking permission just for defending myself.

The term "griefing" is subjective. What you call "griefing" is what I call "playing a game". If I beat you in poker and take $500 dollars from you, did I just grief you? Or, did I beat you at a game?

Why do you play games if you fear losing? Does playing a game where you win every single time make you feel better about yourself? Because if it does then you have more problems than me or my guild does.

But my band of jokers did get dismissed from the game after a few crybabies complained about it, our whole guild got banned for using the terrain to our advantage! We weren't even exploiting, we were just being smart. But we were banned because our ranged classes used high terrain to make a joke out of the enemy, which was a perfectly valid game mechanic in my opinion.

Translation:
joker = richard cranium
smart = exploiting
in my opinion = solipsism

We didn't exploit because we wanted to be smart, we exploited because it was FUN! Big difference.

Blizzard also banned us after our 4th week on the server, and our guild had around 40 members.

Personally i don't play ED to win or lose. I play it to relax after a hard day at work. If i wanted a game where i could "win" i'd play another game. There isn't much of an element of win or lose in ED at all. I think this is what gets some people worked up. They feel a need to prove themselves.

There is that thing one could call honorable action, like not doing something even if you could because you feel that it is outside the rules. But i guess that is an alien concept to you.
So you cheat playing cards. What else?

Of course it is, it's an emotional affair, which by definition is always a subjective term. I merely applaud Blizzard for doing the right thing here and banning you, because you killed people while avoiding the guards over and over, because it is my subjective belief that players like you do any multiplayer game more harm than good, and showing you the door is generally the best option.

And you reading statements into my posts that frankly are not there is a poor attempt at strawman.

You just die and the bounties go dormant.

BTW, is it just me or do all those who don't like combat have jobs that sucks, because they always need to relax so badly after a very, very, hard, hard day at work? Just some pattern I did notice, the pvp players come from work and enjoy the action too, but they do not complain about their work and their dire need to relax that often. Different in mentality or just coincidence?
