Ok this has happened several times today, and to be honest its beyond annoying, its actually ruining my game and making me think of going elsewhere.

So I'm still doggedly playing as bounty hunter, and due to the lack of legit targets (i've not yet met a single human wanted player since starting this game) i've been forced to start interdicting 'clean' ships, I pull em out of supercruise and scan them with the KWS just to see if they have any bounties.

Now, i'm not yet quite ready to turn to piracy, so as long as they are clean I let them go.

But.... what is really getting on my wick is the number of ships that are exploiting the disconnect-to-get-out-of-trouble bug.. I think about 4 out of 5 ships that I try to interdict simply vanish from the scanner, i'm guessing that they simply pull the plug rather than risk an engagement.

TBH I wish these chicken poo commanders would just move over to solo mode, after all why bother to play online if they are going to chicken out of any contact ? They are just wasting my time and ruining the game....

FD REALLY need to sort this out it going to ruin the multiplayer game for many, otherwise

why not try something like this.

Once an interdiction tether is established you cannot pause or quit.
If you disconnect then the AI takes over your ship and you cannot rejoin the game until the engagement is over.
If the AI looses the engagement then tough, you loose a ship and its your own fault for chickening out.

If the AI wins, then its tough on the person that interdicted you.

This Game is Called Elite Dangerous, why have they made it so soft ?

perhaps they think you are a griefer who will just open fire and destroy their ship and cargo without even speaking to them or making demands. Just happened to me, tried to evade, had to submit and was met with a wall of lead, no demands and no warning, destroyed the ship and a full load of rares.

i will be exploiting the disco bug in future.

Be nice if we could issues bounties on commanders ourselves.

If I could give you +100 rep, Snakebite, I would. This issue is verging upon being a game-breaker.

Sits back, waiting for the, 'you can't force me to play your way' brigade, to chime in.......................

For the record, no one wants to force anything, upon anyone. Just make your minds up and choose to play EITHER Solo, OR Open!

The underlying problem is that there is no significant penalty for murder in this game.

You can attack anyone and then simply pay of the puny fine...

Griefing is allowed by design...

They REALLY have got to get a grip on this game.... Killing an innocent trader should result in a wanted status being posted *permanently* at every system within 100ly

Seeing how FD are high and mighty in threads where they deem necessary, such as threads about decals and some faction being overly friendly...

I'd love for one of the devs that claim to care so much about the game to step in a give an official statement regarding the Kill Process exploit that has been rampantly used by players, who are unwilling to play the game and utilise the in-game tools.

However, judging by the past few threads about one of the most annoying exploits, which were locked due to the stars being aligned improperly and some mod's bad mood, this thread will not live long enough to receive the grace of the dev gods.

Or you could look on the forums and see the number of people complaining that they are getting pulled out of FSD and nobody is there when they drop out, there appears to be a problem in 1.05 where the connections aren`t working as expected...you are probably responsible for 4 or 5 of the complaints about being dumped out of FSD and nobody being there.I know you want to feel aggreived and big because people are running scared....its probably bad for your ego to put the blame where it probably lies at the moment with the crap peer system they are using.

Did you just interdict me twice on my way to Jameson Memorial?
Trying out your railgun on me as I ran like hell.

Even if it wasn't you I play in open but never pull the plug when interdicted, it's all part of the fun.
I have however been interdicted and come out to no one, just empty space, the other person could think I had pulled but it must be some bug in the instancing or something.

yes they seem to be focusing on all manner of triviality and completely overlooking a handfull of critical game breaking issues with the game.

The fact that you can attack and kill an innocent in this game and they pay a small fine and be in the clear is an absolute dissaster.

This oversght manages to invite griefing behaviour and at the same time it completely nerfs bounty hunting as a career path...

They absolutely HAVE to sort this one out asap.

They also have to sort out the disco exploit, as the man said above there is a solo mode for those who do not want any form of pvp.

+1

Murder does not simply go away.

Or a Group.....

the whinning is starting to sound like your a leafs fan! who really care how others are playing, let them do it their way !

it would be useful if the comms are looked at, very clunky. If a pirate interdicts you, by the time he has typed, "aarr jim lad give me all your gold arrr" the trader is back in frame shift and away.

Bit of role play would be nice too.

I'm a trader (ish) and role play as such. If a pirate interdicts me and threatens violence and I can't see a way to escape then I will drop some cargo as payment for safe passage, we did it all the time on Discovery Freelancer, you could pay a pirate for a whole day of safe passage into a certain system. Here I can just go back to the system in sols, pick up my cargo, back to open and move on.

It's really not working Devs.

This mechanic is working the way FD designed it too. In my opinion it's a supremely bad design decision to have a mini game that if you submit then you gain an advantage.

If you lose the interdiction mini game or submit to it then you should have to stay in the instance and fight it out.

In the multiplayer games other people affect each other hence people care when the game is being exploited.

Absolutely, people can play how they want in the solo mode, In multiplayer if people cheat and exploit, or simply don't play within the spirit of the game, then it can have a negative impact on other players experience. Ultimately it is up to FD to close of the exploits and implement in-game methods to direct people away from unwanted styles of play (griefing).

Yes we need more roleplay, and in game mechanics that support it.

I have pulled ships out of super cruise many times and before I have finished typing 'cut your engines and submit to scan, if you are clean you will be unharmed' they are firing at me or have jumped to supercruise. The mechanics of the game are simply not allowing *many* people to play this as expected.

Imo the one comes with the other... when FD finally adresses the griefer problem through unpayable and higher bounties and maybe other features then people won't feel the need to disconnect when they are interdicted. Because right now you have the feeling that everyone who interdicts you when you're 'clean' comes out shooting and just wants to see you explode.

But strangely the people who actually do the logging thing still play in open, which is ridiculous... but as others have said... most of those encounters seem to be through unintended non-connects between players right now

The sad reality is, that people read one post, about someone being killed, then assumes every other player is a griefer. Just like the little old lady in the village, who reads about a mugging in the park and so never again leaves her home, because the whole village has been over run by muggers.
