Interdiction Dodgers

most of those encounters seem to be through unintended non-connects between players right now

To be honest Tiberius i think your being a little generous there, dont forget there is at least one commander who proudly displays a disconnect script as his sig on this forum.

The underlying problem is that there is no significant penalty for murder in this game.

You can attack anyone and then simply pay of the puny fine...

Griefing is allowed by design...

They REALLY have got to get a grip on this game.... Killing an innocent trader should result in a wanted status being posted *permanently* at every system within 100ly

Exactly... There needs to be a bigger penalty for murder.

At the end of the day, the pirate can threaten, and if needs be damage your ship and even forcibly open the cargo hatch. But destruction of the other ship should be costly!

I got interdicted 3 times in 2 days to find nothing when I submit, it is way more common than you think, almost no one uses that "script" that pretty much just kills the EliteDangerous32.exe process.

FWIW - I find the ship to ship communications set-up a bit awkward. The first time I was piratted, I planned some witty repartee or perhaps some creative begging, but he started firing shots across by bow before I could figure out how to talk back. So I just vented some bio-waste at him and got out of there.

I really appreciate the hard work all the pirates do, to make the game more exciting!

I get this all the time with the AI never mind another player. Its the interdiction "tether" system not triggering properly.

I think the OP is getting the bug not people logging out. I have been interdicted even in solo mode and come out to an empty instance.

If u murder someone that is "Clean" you should get the same fine/Bounty on your head as the victims Insurance. :) That would make it more fair. And prevent griefing.
Just my 2 cents :)

Cheers

perhaps they think you are a griefer who will just open fire and destroy their ship and cargo without even speaking to them or making demands. Just happened to me, tried to evade, had to submit and was met with a wall of lead, no demands and no warning, destroyed the ship and a full load of rares.

Why should they have to negotiate with you? They have as much right to attack you as you have to trade. Although I agree with others on here that the bounty for murder should be higher, if you've greedily removed your shields and weapons and are exposing yourself with lengthy stints in SC instead of visiting stations close to the star then that's your choice and the risk you've taken. Keep your shields charged, boost away when interdicted and you'll be able to jump away very much alive. Just don't sit there expecting a chat.

That'll swing it too far the other way and making pirating a pain. There's a reason they didn't name the game Elite: Trader. Between higher bounties and smarter traders this can balance out fine.

yes they seem to be focusing on all manner of triviality and completely overlooking a handfull of critical game breaking issues with the game.

The fact that you can attack and kill an innocent in this game and they pay a small fine and be in the clear is an absolute dissaster.

This oversght manages to invite griefing behaviour and at the same time it completely nerfs bounty hunting as a career path...

They absolutely HAVE to sort this one out asap.

They also have to sort out the disco exploit, as the man said above there is a solo mode for those who do not want any form of pvp.

+1 Couldn't agree more.

Yeah no, not going to work.

Why the hell would an Empire station care that a fed trader got bumped off XXX LY away? Why would a pirate or independent station give a rats anus about some no name trader who 'sploded no where near them?

No jurisdiction.

Just because you are "innocent" does not mean bad things will not happen to you. And just because someone is an "innocent" does not mean players should be penalised for killing them. Its all fair game, whether you like it or not. Its OPEN play. Dont want to get splatted by another player? PLAY SOLO.

Hmmmm.....
Play in OPEN, visit Nav Points and you will find plenty of folks to do battle with both NPC & human players.
The benefit is that you are in normal space and there is no ship damage done through the interdiction processes.

Ok this has happened several times today, and to be honest its beyond annoying, its actually ruining my game and making me think of going elsewhere.

So I'm still doggedly playing as bounty hunter, and due to the lack of legit targets (i've not yet met a single human wanted player since starting this game) i've been forced to start interdicting 'clean' ships, I pull em out of supercruise and scan them with the KWS just to see if they have any bounties.

Now, i'm not yet quite ready to turn to piracy, so as long as they are clean I let them go.

But.... what is really getting on my wick is the number of ships that are exploiting the disconnect-to-get-out-of-trouble bug.. I think about 4 out of 5 ships that I try to interdict simply vanish from the scanner, i'm guessing that they simply pull the plug rather than risk an engagement.

TBH I wish these chicken poo commanders would just move over to solo mode, after all why bother to play online if they are going to chicken out of any contact ? They are just wasting my time and ruining the game....

FD REALLY need to sort this out it going to ruin the multiplayer game for many, otherwise

why not try something like this.

Once an interdiction tether is established you cannot pause or quit.
If you disconnect then the AI takes over your ship and you cannot rejoin the game until the engagement is over.
If the AI looses the engagement then tough, you loose a ship and its your own fault for chickening out.

If the AI wins, then its tough on the person that interdicted you.

This Game is Called Elite Dangerous, why have they made it so soft ?

In the last 3 days, I have submitted 6 times to CMDR interdiction and when I did I was alone. I searched around but nobody there. Looks like interdiction is bugged at the moment. 10 mins ago a CMDR tried to interdict me and I submitted but I stayed in super cruise except the sound effects were as if I had dropped out of super cruise. I continued on to the station with the wrong sound effects. I was annoyed because I am also a bounty hunter and have been looking forward to combating the interdictors. Not sure if this bug only occurs when they submit?

Its not so much the size of the fine that is the problem, its the fact that the crime doesn't stick, that wanted status should stick to you
