Importing works...
*sound of a grown man whooping like an 8 year old boy*
And works if there's multiple stations in a single CSV file...
Um... dunno. Standard? Something with lava lamps?Aright, so do we want a typical window file selector box to pop up when you hit an Import button? Or some other contrived fancy method of doing imports?
And... I just realized an amazing side effect of how I did this. You can also use it to update an existing station's data. Just dump a new CSV file and import it again and Cmdr's Log will find the existing station and override all the commodities with the stuff in the CSV for you.

For import I would vote for a (configurable) dedicated folder where CmdrsLog would try to import all CSVs from with the press of an Update/Import Data button. Browsing for CSVs is less fun I think.Aright, so do we want a typical window file selector box to pop up when you hit an Import button? Or some other contrived fancy method of doing imports?

This way you just need to OCR the screenshots, export the data into the same folder CmdrsLog will look, then press the button in CmdrsLog and you are done.

I agree. CmdrsLog is still manual if you compare to the other tool which automatically list the prices for you when you enter a system...That sounds like a good idea, though the cmdr's log has been stated is a purely manual program, though I suppose importing cvs from regulatednoise or eliteocr wouldn't change the fact that cmdr's log itself is manual.
Well... it's about timeI was waiting for someone to finally realize the file format is super simple and should be easy to pump new data into it from the outside if you really want to. Awesome work! Hopefully they handle the custom fields ok. Those are a bit tricky since they can be ANY key for a key value pair.
I absolutely support this kind of external injection of data as an option for people that are really wanting to use it. Thanks
I'll try not to alter the file format too much in the future![]()
Wrt OldLost companion tool. As you support the idea (though it violates your NOT crowd source data principle a bit) you might want to consider putting it on the OP, otherwise it gets snowed under. I've taken the liberty to put it on the OP of the 3rd party tools thread - TODO section for now. OldLost's tool is certainly something I'm gonna try out in combination with your Cmdrs Log ;-) You are already on the OP - also TODO section. Sooooooo many tools, so little time ;-(

So using the Search Station Data tick box & entering empire it lists all the empire systems i have entered. However when i click on trading.. it lists all the stations when i just want it to display the empire ones
Question : must i hide all the other stations just to show the empire ones ?
I don't really see it as violating crowd sourcing at all. If you don't get your files from someone else, you are still doing all the work and its still your data. It becomes crowd sourced if you have data for a station you've never been to. EliteORC just helps to automate entry of stations you are visiting personally. I believe if the game had anything like Cmdr's Log built in (which it should!); the data logging would be automatic and not manual entry. Just don't take CSV files from other people and it won't be crowd sourced![]()
