It takes time for the textures to generate as they're unique for each planet.

Michael

Ok thanks. But this didn't seem to occur back in earlier versions of the game. I can't quite recall version numbers - but I will certainly have video evidence on YouTube. I take it something was changed regarding that? If so, any chances of making the visual change less abrupt?

1.06 reinvent "Seeking Luxuries" trader bug

Again: if you to near at two of the usual three T9 Trader you get two messages and 3,7Million Cr disappear (@ 500to in my case). Great. Brilliant. And former fixed.
Reload brings it back so far as before but who know this and why should a paying adult player trust anything in this game and further updates?

--- lots of snappy comments about the state of this game and current/further development expectations deleted, judge for your own ---

Taking a closer look there appears to be a few things going on. The first is a one off frame drop as you approach a planet for the first time, this is the shader building. For the latest nVidia driver this should now be cached, but is a driver rather than a game thing. When your approaching after that initial point is the texture generation and that is primary controlled by the detail settings - they're quite beefy so dropping the detail settings may well help you. There does appear to be a third issue that I don't quite understand and we'll investigate further.

Hi Michael!

I created a thread on this subject. I tried a number of different ways to improve the issue. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=102461

The poll indicates a high percentage of commanders experiencing the issue.

In the graphic settings, there is only medium and high setting for me under textures. Is there a way to set them to lower manually in xml files so as to help with the stutter?

What about the issue concerning all the AI appearing as 'Harmless' when you enter an area previously "started" by another player?

You've not made a particularly compelling case Granite. There are barely any differences between your two comparison images. Why not show Michael that all planets are glowing blobs (whether they have any starlight falling on them or not), until they are fairly close? The draw distance slider in the graphics menu only seems to effect ship/station models. I'd like to a slider for draw distance on planets, but hey, there are bigger fish to fry right now.

1) I don't see any issue with all planets appearing as "glowing blobs", it only happens with some. The one in the screenshot was dark on approach and then just suddenly appears.

2) I have already posted a thread with plenty of information here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=102361&highlight= and Michael as seen that thread.

Is there any chance of seeing some basic stats re: support tickets? # new filed, # addressed or examined by Frontier, # resolved? It seems to me a lot of us with outstanding support tickets are feeling neglected by all these balance patches, when some of us can't even bind controls so that we can get into the game.

I'm not saying it doesn't all need to get fixed eventually. Just that there's folks with pretty simple-sounding problems, whose tickets are still "New" (as in, not yet seen by anyone at Frontier) and over a month old. Could you at least give us some info about how you prioritize?

I've been having trouble with the 'Hunt Pirates' missions. I pop into a USS, kill some of the pirates, which register on the mission count. The next USS, I get a contract update from a ship, and it resets my kill count back to zero and I have to start again. It was working until V1.05. Michael, has this been fixed in V1.06?

Thank you for all your hard work.

Let us investigate and we'll get more information.

What about the issue concerning all the AI appearing as 'Harmless' when you enter an area previously "started" by another player?

Eh, I just noticed my ticket about it is gone... though I did make it a while ago. Anyway, as much as I hate bumping (and quoting myself), I want to stress that this issue has been around for a long while and apparently has gone largely unnoticed.

I remade a ticket (#00000029875), here are the details:
When entering an 'area' (such as supercruise, station perimeter, nav beacon, USS, etc.) that has been previously 'started' by another player all the AI's ranks appear as 'Harmless' regardless of their actual status.

After some testing with a friend I have confirmed that:
a) either the player who entered the area first (I assume 'created' it);
b) or the first player to 'encoutner' them can still see their true ranking.
In either case, for the other player they always display as 'Harmless'.

This has been noticed through multiple observations in controlled and random situations, in Open Play as well as Private Group.

Do you get a stutter from the rotating station displayed in the start menu, the rotating ship model (as the game is loading) as well as the in-game FSD jumps? I have all of the above, even with 12 Gig of Ram, 2 Gig of DDR5 video-card memory and an i7 processor :(

Yes. My most common instance of stutter is whilst watching the rotating ship. I always assumed it was a network thing as lots of stuttering during rotation usually heralded some connection issues. That is anecdotal though as I should now gather evidence to prove/disprove that "feeling".

EDIT: Interesting. Upgraded to 1.06 and I have just had my first stutter-free rotating Cobra loading screen. Lovely.

Flying happy

"Fix for matchmaking in private groups"

Yeah, so this wasn't fixed. I still can't see my friend or anyone from any private groups.

Funny thing happened as a result of the update. Now all the landing docks are highlighted at the same time. I dont know if this is just the cigar station I am currently at or what, but it would be nice to ONLY have your destination landing pad lit instead of the whole lot. That said, everything is better than nothing.

- Prevent recycling of the mission list so the same mission cannot be taken over and over again

This concerns me a bit primarily because currently picking up many missions is the only way of making it remotely reasonable once you get a bigger ship. I'm talking about stacking up on missions to fetch commodities (i.e get me 5 fish), slaves (2 slaves to free or for "hire") etc. Does this change make it so I can only pick up 5 fish at once? Or is this more to address the assasination / pirate hunting missions where people killed General something and got completion for 8 missions?

I'd have no problem with limiting the number of trucking missions if they scaled in size and compensation with my ship. I very very very rarely get missions to get 30-50 items of something. I have 284 cargo space - why aren't there missions to get a couple of hundred gold to the station, with relevant payout for the job (jobs to ship commodities actually pay really well but are for such small amounts they are never worth doing one by one unless you're just starting out).

ALL docks or just many docks? From what I see docks are highlighted if someone is in process of docking. Perhaps it was just a busy station?
