Thatgoids will be in the initial release, but we'll be doing something more substantial with them down the line.
Michael

I might have missed something, but I think it's first time I've heard that officially announced.

NOTE: check the date this post was created and last edited :)

It was mentioned before in one of the fiction videos. In particular it was revealed that Thargoids are all female.

I'm still not entirely sure what that really means, since if there's only one gender it essentially makes it a genderless species.

Yeah, I vaguely remember watching that vid. At the time it seemed like Michael was saying that they wouldn't be in the first release. He's either a master of understatement or he used an old Jedi mind trick, which fooled my feeble brain.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.

The all female thing was very intriguing. Maybe I can get my inner Captain Kirk on? :D

Asari, anyone? ;)

Seriously though... if they are still an insectoid species, then they could very well be all female, and reproduce through auto fertilized eggs or something like that... like Xenomorphs. I just hope their ships loose the "saucer" look, though, always found that kinda cheesy.

Agreed. Maybe pay homage to it somehow, of course.

Good spot! I assume maybe we'll just see their smaller ships like in the earlier games, but their capital ship equivalents will come down the line. It's going to be fascinating when we can potentially land on a Thargoid planet and see their hives, or whatever they've got.

I was seriously under the impression that he'd specifically said somewhere they WON'T be in the initial release but be in a future expansion.

WAR! thats what we need! we need the Empire to go and kick some ass :)

Then we can round em up,put em in a field and bomb the B******S

Perhaps the males are parasitic like in deep sea angler fish, they fuse with the female's body and become little more than vestigial stumps.

Or maybe there are no males because once they've served their purpose they're just so much extra protein?

If you read some of the history, it was thought Thargoids weren't in FE2 and FFE because they had suffered a heavy defeat and withdrawn back to their homeworld/s. Maybe in E: D that'll be where you'll find them.

That feels strangely familiar.
