press 4, go to status... Voila! Your Re-buy cost is clearly displayed. We don't need idiot lights. What we need is a module that gives people common sense.Like I said in the other thread, FD needs to implement a toggled in-game warning about not having enough insurance coverage. This is happening way too often.
I don't think I did. I had used it accidentally once in the beginning when I managed to destroy a hauler. It covered the cost. I went in the red and paid it off eventually. I haven't had a similar mishap since and didn't realize there was anything I had to do. I guess I assumed that if the worst happened, I would owe a galactic loan shark a few million and then work to pay it off. Had I known I would certainly have had proper insurance sufficient to cover the ship I've spent the last month working to get. To say I feel stupid currently is a mountain sized under statement.
but I can't accept losing the last month of progress.
Press 4, status... Voila! Ship re-buy cost. Imagine that? Why does this have to be re-explained? Don't you people take the time to at least check your status before undocking? Or do you just bumble out into space in a rush without even stopping to checking to see if you insurance is up to date.Your vitriol is unappreciated. I was unaware.

I was ignorant to the specifics of the mechanic. I didn't realize there was anything required of me. I could have bought it many times over i guess.
Try that with an asteroid. Some are the same size as the nav beacon. If you are speeding towards it at a high velocity then it will cut through you like a hot knife through butter. Also the Clipper doesn't have the best shields either. But killed by a nav beacon? I mean how ridiculous is that. A nav beacon shouldn't destroy a freak'en ship when hit, especially a large one.
240 palladium = 3Mill. So that will be him pirate hunting with a size 3 shield and no cell banks.

I did this in my Asp with a full load leaving an outpost, boosted right into the floating turret thing. Sucks, but if you were up to a clipper you should really have known to not fly with that much. You basically saw the sign that said "CAUTION HOT", watched other people walking in and burning themselves on it, then decided to put your hand on the stove anyway.
I honestly can't fathom getting to that point where you have a decked Clipper, 3m in cargo, no insurance and then DECIDING to go bounty hunting? I understand one of those decisions, but all of them? Sorry man, it sucks, better luck next time.

You were pretty much asking for it.
Darwin award?
To be fair I am not calling him stupid. I am saying he made a poor choice. Common sense! Don't give me that crap you didn't know. That kind of garbage is what people say after they plow through an intersection and hit someone then say afterwards "Oh, I didn't see that stop sign." It is easy to find your re-buy cost. Press 4 takes you right to your status panel. Go to it. Bang! Ship re-buy cost. If you chose to ignore this or lacked the common sense to understand it was there all the time you faced the consequences for your actions.I'm not going to pile on all the people calling you stupid because you didn't know. If you didn't know, you didn't know.
However, don't underestimate what you DO know. Starting over would be much easier and faster this time, armed with the knowledge of how to earn money properly.
