5 Million Bounty

I agree with Redan that something here is not quite right, and as mentioned for 1.1, the clipper will get some fixing. I do wonder if it would be good to have a crash report so that you can see what it is that caused the death of the Clipper. Was it that some vital subsystem took the weight of the impact and that is what caused the Clipper's demise? What I certainly think should be the case is that the Cobra should have really blown up too. No doubt really. Still, areas that can be worked on by the Devs.

However, I don't want to take away from the OP's great fortune. Enjoy your creds bud. Makes a great story for the OP to tell.

Its not really QFT as its pretty simple, you have a huge bounty somewhere, you don't somewhere else :p the empire don't care if the feds hate you, they'd probably like you more! The feds do continue to chase you round whenever you appear in a fed area (or vice versa)

QFT ?
What is QFT ?

> What needs attention from the devs is that a criminal can fly around for months with a 5 million bounty and not being hunted by every cop far and wide. Being a criminal is too easy in this game.

Maybe in populated systems. I think it's more Letter of Marque style where privateers take care of these things. Anyways, plenty people have said combat needs to be more financially viable.

Heh. And the trolls gather for the feast.

You may choose to say that he won it fair and square and that I was over confident/cocky or you may also choose to see it for what it is: A serious issue in the game that we all play. Regardless of him being at 1% or 100%, I had shields and he did not. I also weigh 5 times more than he does. If the collision stripped my shields and brought me down to X%, that would be one thing. But for me to die and for him to survive? Come on.

Again I'll repeat myself, the money is not the issue here, and especially since he didn't take the 5.3 million out of my pocket, I couldn't care less about the newbie getting lucky. Congrats to him and to all traders who consider this to be a +1 for them.

My point here is that this is a serious glitch that should get some attention from the Devs.

Well said. There is definetily something wrong with mass readings.

Doing the Anaconda kill missions in the Cobra for fun I was able to finish them off by boosting into them. I think you can all connect the dots.

The Clipper is a glorified Yacht with paper thin hull. The Cobra is a purpose built Combat Trader with thicker hull. No bug there.

Lesson is don't ram ships when piloting a Clipper. Well done to the newbie for a well deserved 5 million credits.

How come we're in 1.06 and the Clipper mass bug is not fixed yet. I've had a Sidewinder mass lock me in my Clipper.

I guess I will stop playing boom boom ship at the mailslot with my Python, I'm only on 3D shield lol

Clipper also got less mass than Sidewinder? Fact is Clipper got messed up mass value

Good point !
In a past thread, someone said that imperial ships are far less technologically evolved vessels than federation ones, their only pro is their pretty looking design ,this is the proof !

Regardless of what I deserve, I choose to play the game as I see fit. I've had this bounty for eons now. The last updated bounty list was from ages ago up until Jan 22 brought the daily updated lists again with patch 1.06.

Think about it for a moment - I've had that bounty since then and for this long and yet nobody has claimed it before...Why do you think that is?

It's not about being salty. I lost 3 million credits in the crash and I can afford to lose my ship 600 times over. That's how I choose to make my path in the galaxy, and that's how I will play and enjoy the game. The 5 million credit bounty took a bit of effort, but rest assured I'll be back on that list before you know it. I will build up a bounty again off of the remains of dead traders and stupid bounty hunters until one day a worthy adversary comes to claim it.

The problem for me is that this is such a blatantly dumb glitch that it does get a little frustrating. It's all fine that the newbie got a nice boost and all, but I've ticketed and posted about the Clipper Mass Lock issue forever now, ever since I got the ship over a month ago. I was responded to by the devs that the fix would come in 1.1 but I didn't think it also extended to collisions...that's just ridiculous.

In any case, look for me again on the bounty list, Commanders. Next time you won't be having a glitch to hide behind.

Edit: I did not have to pay the bounty as I was not in Federation Jurisdiction when I re spawned.

It wasn't long ago you were moaning about exploding when you flew into the back of a type7.... I believe you ticketed that too.....didn't learn your lesson then???
Anyway, I'm glad you died to a "lesser" opponent.... I despise all pirate scum and congratulations to the OP on a nice bounty

Why all the mudslinging at Redan?

He don't care about being killed, he cares about a bug that enables small ships with extensive damage, and no shields to take out a huge ship with shields.

I bet if you had the same experience some of you would be in here creating WTFudge-threads.

Logic. Learn it.

The mass of a Cobra is not comparable to that of a T7.

They would also be threatening to quit the game...My only threat is directed to all those who say "Well deserved! Pirate scum got what he deserved!" and it goes like this: The Void will have its due. Good luck.

PS. Don't ram me, pretty please, until 1.1!

Have you ever seen the 5th gear episode where they ram a massive Volvo into a tiny Renault? Reminds me of that!

If we amplified the effects, it would be alot more accurate. By amplified, I mean the Renault is made of diamonds and the Volvo is made of a glass.
Both ships are, bizarre as it is, at their opposing extremes when it comes to collisions.

Where's the mudslinging?

He died and felt it was unfair, other people are putting forward reasons why it not be unfair.

Which are completely non based on the point handled here

what happened is just an example of mass problems, which underline a design glitch regardless of the circumstances

While this issue isn't that good to hear, as I am a Clipper pilot, too, I think it might be explained as a working game mechanic, too.

How I see it: Every ship has a given hull integrity per square meter and it in fact basically isn't related to mass, but only to surface area. I mean, bigger ship's hull can never be as compact and therefore sturdy impact-wise.

If any of you played Bulletstorm, you know how to wreck much bigger ship. :D (Or Star Wars. Poor A-Wing pilot)

Of course, in this particular case, I'd rather see the Clipper just torn the wing off, than "just exploded" which looks kind of lame.
But the fact that smaller ship can be like a "bullet" for bigger ship isn't that incomprehensible and hard to accept, for me.
