...I don't really see the point of trackIR on a single monitor.
A single monitor is where you get the most benefit of head tracking.

I just use an Xbox controller and voice attack and will be sticking with just that. Won't be able to use a rift due to eye sight and I don't really see the point of trackIR on a single monitor.
It seems like every video I see of people playing ED has them looking around in the cockpit with a TrackIR (or similar).
Since I am poor and "Married with Children", I wonder if I'm missing out on much, or whether I am handicapped in some way while playing for not having one...?
Is it worth the cost?
I've got some savings which I am holding onto for the Consumer release of OR (I ally debated whether to get the DK, then the DK2, but decided it would be best to wait for the actual thing instead).
Is there any point getting a TrackIR if I'm going to eventually get a Rift?
Imo I think the OR would be pretty damaging to the eyes after around 10-30 minutes of gameplay. I more than likely won't be getting one of these, correct me if I am wrong though.
I use TrackIR (+Warthog) over OR because:
1) i am a smocker, and sometimes i just simply want to smoke a cig during my play sessions.
2) sometimes i want to drink an coffee during my play sessions
3) i would look like an super-nerd-geek to my wife with such an black box over my head
4) i wear glasses and can't see anything without them, so i'm better off with using TrackIR
Note:
I suck at building own things, so that's why i bought the overpriced TrackIR, but i do not regret it, it's awesome!

No headlook here, except for a rarely used hat switch.
I'm pretty good with sensors, and my Viper doesn't have very good non-forward visibility anyway.
I don't have any, I don't usually play sim games and I'm not rich enough to buy gadgets for one single game. Mouse is OK for looking around.
The big question is though, will you get OR and completely immerse (sit inside for "realz") yourself in the cockpit?![]()
